Introduction: I have nearly a decade of experience in professional photography but continue to push myself to learn new techniques or see things from a new perspective. I take the time to listen to my clients to understand what they invision from their session and what they expect to use the images for, so we capture images they are thrilled about. I take my time at the session so it is a relaxed and fun experience. Every time I come home from a session or event, it is like opening up a gift. I am so excited to see the results of my work, no better reward.

Jan captured our maternity, labor & delivery, and newborn photos beautifully. Her experience as a labor & delivery nurse was extremely helpful during the birth, as she knew how to shoot such intimate photos without us even knowing she was there. Jan Barker is a very friendly and outstanding photographer. We went downtown to do a family photo shoot. She captured the unique perspectives in the surroundings that really brought the whole experience together. The pictures turned out wonderful and I was very impressed with the whole experience, beginning to end. I can't think of a more dedicated and gifted photographer to have worked with. She is truly wonderful and I would highly recommend any person looking for family or personal photos to use her.

Jan was our photographer for our wedding vow renewal. She was very accommodating and was there for the entire ceremony to help us capture the event. Jan is a very professional photographer, she is timely and she listened to all of our requests and did her best to get the shots that we wanted, she is extremely creative in finding ways to capture those "special moments" We all look forward to having Jan as our photographer for our family for many years to come. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge for a reasonable session price with a 3 tier structure to meet a variety of needs. I am a print based business and feel strongly that utilizing your beautiful images in albums or wall prints is important. I want you to be able to enjoy your images at a glance on a daily basis, not tossed in a drawer to be forgotten.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to set up a consultation time either by phone or in person to get to know you and what you want from your session and what purpose you have for your resulting images. I discuss locations and session ideas with you, send out a contract after answering any questions you may have and decide on a date for your session. I do ask for a small retainer fee at that point to secure your date and time. After the session, I take approximately 2 weeks to cull and edit your images. We will then meet again for your personal gallery reveal where you can pick out your favorites and get prints or products ordered.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Registered Nurse as well and still work part-time in that field and that experience has really helped me relate to the needs of my clients and connect with them. I have studied photography through classwork and hands on training, trying new things and I mentor with other photographers.
