I had a five berm house with windows that were very dirty due to the fact that I rented the house out. Fahad showed up promptly and explained what he could do and couldnt. He did an excellent job and had a lot of knowledge on cleaning. I would recommend him and use him again.

RC recently framed and sheet rocked my basement and it looks AWESOME. The job was completed ahead of schedule. I was so impressed with his work ethic that I hired him to stay on for another job. They start painting today and I am looking forward to what I know will be an outstanding job.

We went with Rremium Arbor Care after having a sit-down visit with the owners and then listening to our needs other companies here in town didn't take the time to visit all they were about was the money. We did a little bit of research and liked what we saw and the end result was fabulous. We would definitely use them again and we have noticed that their company has expanded doing other home repairs and would definitely look into them in the future for that thank you very much Kris and Amee for doing such a wonderful job and the little bird houses that you gave our Grandma was the biggest bonus of all !

I own an old house, so today's methods don't always work. Brett knows how to work with that. He hung a door and it latches.

The 2 workers(rick and kevin) were very personable and complemented each other abilities well. Although I am no professional, they were very willing to listen to my ideas. As I know they have several jobs going on at once this time of year, they were very willing to use sunny days on their outdoor jobs which allowed me time to paint and some other updates. I am very impressed with their ability to remodel my kitchen in a 65 year old house that had settled quite a bit. My project came out very well and my wife is very happy as well

My two story house built in the 1920s has many "charming" old windows that are somewhat inaccessible and difficult to clean. Moto did an amazing job cleaning them (and the storm windows and the screens) with speed, positivity, and attention to detail. His work ethic is outstanding. Would/will hire him again. -Dr. JP

We hired Ken Thompson to paint the entire interior of a house we bought that needed total restoration. He ended up doing not only the painting, but also all of the electrical and plumbing, and a long list of other projects as well. Ken does high quality work, he shows up when he says he will, and stays until the project is finished. We were so happy with the results that we hired him to do some remodeling on my mom's house, and another property as well. Both turned out great! And, he's a really nice guy, too. If you hire Ken you will not be disappointed.

I had hired another company to do some miscellaneous exterior painting and they did a terrible job, many missed areas and very poor quality. I then hired Jeremy and he corrected all the mistakes, was prompt, courteous, professional and very fair on his price. I would hire him again and refer him to anyone I know.

Jaymie was able to get a large number of needed repairs done to my rental house in a very short time frame. He painted the entire interior of the home, patched large holes in the walls, replaced damaged doors, replaced damaged floor tiles, put in a new kitchen faucet, completely gutted and remodeled bathroom, and replaced lattice work and rotted wood pieces on a screened in porch. He was very professional and I am very happy with the results.

I had not heard of Grassroots Roofing prior to a google search for a roofing company. After a quick phone call, customer service was apparent when dealing directly with David Romerein. The tear off and architectual shingle installation even with the "California cut" in the valleys looked great was EXTREMELY reasonably priced. He also went out of his way to find me the best deal on shingles instead of the standard 3 tabs or just settling on any color. Our new roof added a selling point for our house and was its appearance was complimented by the home buyer! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
