John was the DJ for my daughter's wedding last Saturday. He did a wonderful job. He kept the crowd moving and honored our need for a few slow and specialty songs; not all DJ's do that. John was easy to work with and a great value. I would recommend him highly! Dana

We hired Kirby for day of coordination, and I am so thankful that we had her. Miranda, Kirby, and I had met before and created a timeline, and I was able to ask many questions, email them both, and depend on them to confirm details of the wedding with all the vendors. The wedding day was rainy, and that made everything much more difficult for Kirby. But she helped set up the rain back up plan for the ceremony, listened to what I wanted, worked closely with the photographer, diverted questions, and helped make sure that everything went smoothly despite nothing going like our original plan. She did all that- plus much more that I probably don't even realize, as the bride, she kept me pretty well out of it so I could enjoy my special day. We couldn't have done it without her.

We had the pleasure of seeing Cori do her magic at a family wedding this past summer. She is fun, high-energy, detail-oriented, and works well under pressure. Weddings are fun, but let’s be real: they are stressful! Especially behind the scenes. Cori was there to take care of those pesky details and did it with “class”! We will definitely be using her again for the next family wedding or event!

Sophie Mueller is an absolute dream to work with! Not only does she have some amazing ideas, she's also very open to other ideas while staying within requested budget. She decorated a cupcake table for my wedding and it was more than I could ever ask for. It was SO nice because I gave her a budget, colors, and the theme of the wedding and she ran with it. As a bride planning a wedding, it was nice having Sophie on the team because I knew the cupcake table was going to be done perfectly. She was SUPER friendly and always had a smile on her face. I would recommend Sophie to anyone who is looking for decoration/event planning ideas. Thanks again for making my big day even more special Sophie!

Jonathan was the DJ at my wedding. We had about 250 guests, most of whom were under 30-years old. Jonathan had just about everybody dancing nonstop! At one point our photos show at least 80-100 people breaking it down on the dance floor. Jonathan is very professional. He brought all his own equipment, which was more than enough sound-power to rock the 5000 square-foot event space. Jonathan was also very flexible and tasteful in the music he provided. There were classical 1960s love songs, all the way through everyone's favorite current singles, including remixes and Jonathan's own DJ twist. My wife(!) and I are both music lovers and musicians and we were thrilled with every aspect of Jonathan's service. I very highly recommend!

I had a chance to enjoy Frank's wonderful Italian pasta dish and salad. Both were outstanding. If you are planning any kind of gathering, wedding, or party I would highly recommend Frank's Catering. You will not be sorry and you will have your friends/family coming back for seconds.

I LOVE As You Wish. As a photographer I work with a ton of wedding planners. However As You Wish has been my favorite so far. Brennan goes above and beyond for every bride to make sure that they are not stressed out on their big day. She is very well organized and works well with all of the people involved in the wedding. Her keen eye for detail really shows with her decorations. As a photographer we love when planners/designers pay attention to every little detail. Madison Photography would reccomend As You Wish for all of your wedding and party needs :)

Amanda was absolutely wonderful! She was so flexible and on time with meeting before the wedding. She was great at working with other vendors to make sure everything went exactly as my husband and I planned. She took care of everything I needed while we were all getting ready in the morning and had it all done to perfection. She is organized, precise, and everyone loved her! I highly recommend her!!

We had a great experience with “Your Day, Your Way!” My daughter got married on June 6, 2015, and Paula and Freedom were there to help every step of the way. Paula was my creative genius who helped with décor ideas for the church and reception site. She created beautiful runners for the aisle as well as stunning pew bows … and the arch, Oh! It was magnificent! Freedom was my savior organizing and decorating before the reception and then during the reception, making sure that everything was taken care of so I didn’t have to worry about the details and could enjoy the evening. These two pros were so easy to work with and truly wanted to make sure that my daughter’s wedding day was done “Her Way”! The evening went off without a hitch and I must thank “Your Day, Your Way.” They’re the greatest!!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How much does it cost for a wedding planner?

Wedding planning is a full-time job — unless you hire a professional to handle the hard work for you. The cost for a wedding planner will depend on the level of service you desire. The least expensive wedding planner option is day-of coordination, then partial service, then full-service.

The national average cost for wedding planning is between $990 and $1,300. Costs are greatly affected by region, with rural or smaller-town wedding planners often far more affordable than planners in higher-cost cities. Here are some examples of the various levels of wedding planning and their potential average costs:

      • Day-of-wedding coordination: $800-$1,700. Day-of services can include the planner finalizing all details, creating a timeline, confirming vendors and overseeing all setup, day-of activities, and cleanup. The couple does all the front-end planning and contracts all the vendors. Time commitment could be about 15-25 hours, depending on pricing.
      • Partial service: $1,500-$3,800. Here the planner works with the couple from the beginning, helping contract vendors, creating a timeline, and overseeing all details of day-of execution. Time commitment could be about 30-60 hours, depending on package and pricing.
      • Full service: $3,500-$8,000 or more. Here the professional handles all wedding and planning details including working on design, securing rentals, getting the venue and vendors, and handling complete execution of the event. Time commitment could be 50-150 hours or more, depending on package and pricing.
      • Consulting: $50-$150 per hour for design, vendor, reception and other wedding planning consultation.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
