Had Mr Handyman complete 3 switch installations for overhead lights. Was quoted $300-350 for the job but told it may vary slightly once the job is assessed. Was told after the individual inspected the job site it would come in closer to $450. The job came in at $550, primarily in my opinion due to negligence on his part. He had to leave the job site 3 times to go to the hardware due to picking up wrong materials. He also caused significant damage to one of the walls he was working, which had to be mudded and retextured. Two of the original switches that were not changed were reinstalled upside down. I had to repaint the damaged wall myself again a 2nd and 3rd time, as well as another area, and reinstall the switches the correct way that he messed up. I also had to clean up the messes that he made as no attempt was made to clean up any dust, Sheetrock material or other debris left behind. I've made numerous attempts to reach out to this company to address these items and was told I'd receive a response right away. I've received no such response.
Mr. Handyman of Northeast Johnson County's reply
This customer called us and we gave him a phone estimate. My technician gave him an updated estimate of $550 or so. Customer was in a hurry as his house was going on the market the next day. We did make an error and we fixed it our expense (we are human). This customer was in our techs way the entire job cleaning. He then made one attempt the day after the job, not numerous attempts, he admitted that we did quote the correct price. We have recordings of his call. This is a customer who is taking revenge because we would not be blackmailed with a threat of a negative review. We stand behind our work and are proud of it.

I would rate our experience with Mr. Handyman of NE JC as fair to below average. The customer service was good. Laura, who works in the office, is understanding of issues and accommodating. We scheduled them to paint our bathroom wall and ceiling (there had been damage from rain leaking in) and repair drywall. We did run into a few issues in the process of them doing the work that would cause us not to recommend them or use them again in the future:First, I wasn't home during the repair. After a meeting, I listened to a voice message from the technician who was working at my house. He said he'd run into an issue with the drywall that needed more work than the original estimate which would add $300.00 to the cost. I know this is always a possibility and don't have any reason to doubt there was actually a problem, but he said in the voicemail that he was going to go ahead and start working on the new problem--before hearing back from me. I would have given the green light anyway but in my past experience people wait to hear back before they proceed with something that is an additional cost. Second, it was supposed to be a two-day job, but when I got home on the second day, only the first coat of paint was completed. The technician hadn't called to indicate that he wasn't finished, and he didn't set up a time or let me know when he would be coming back to finish the job. I called and emailed the office over the weekend, and called them again mid-day Monday to get on the schedule for having the job completed. They had to schedule the technician for the evening because he was already scheduled on other jobs in the daytime even though ours wasn't complete. Third, the technician didn't cover the bathroom sink, toilet, or shower/tub when he painted. When he finished, the were spots of white paint (from the ceiling) and blue paint (from the walls) in lots of places and even a couple of globs. I contacted the Mr. Handyman office and they apologized and immediately set up a time for the technician to come and fix the issue. He did come back, but even now there are still small spots of white and blue paint on the tub and in the sink and on the toilet. He did address the globs but left the smaller spots. The email about the technician said he is the fastest on their crew, which is ironic since he didn't cover the area he was working in.

Some of the services were done well some not at all. I requested a return service to fix a job and was quoted significantly more than the original job. The color was our choice but the workmanship was horrible. However, the most disturbing experience was the bill collection mentality once services were complete. Literally harrassed while driving back to the house and unable to pull out my credit card. Eventually hit traffic jam and was able to reach my wallet and pay over the phone... Sorry, my experience with Mr. Handyman was not good and will not be using their services again.Edited my response: Changed to one star. As stated..."The color was our choose, please don't use that as an excuse, BUT as stated the workmanship was horrible" why would I want to pay for repeat services when 1) service was amateur, 2) your billing collection is appalling. The service was literally that day and I was just driving to the house when I was hounded on payment. Please no excuses.
Mr. Handyman of Northeast Johnson County's reply
Mr. Delgado, I'm sorry you are disapointed. We were called back because your wife bought the wrong color of grout that you did not agree with. You asked us to redo the work for free by saying it was not done well. The job was done perfectly, but the tile was uneven. We did not install the tile. The reason the job was higher was because we were asked to remove the new grout we had just installed. We will stand behind our work 100% when it is our fault. We have a lifetime warranty on our labor, but not when we did not buy the grout or install the tile.

This company doesnt have the customer in mind at all. It took two weeks of calling and leaving messages for someone to just even return my call. Finally an appointment was set up. The day of the appointment they were late two hours from the scheduled time. Two gentleman, (one looked under the influence) came in the home wanting to start the work right then, writing prices on my to do list with a pencil. The numbers were outrageous. I declined starting work that day. The list was replacing some weather stripping, replacing a garbage disposal (Plug and Play, I already purchased it), fixing hinges on doors, some painting touch up, and texturing. I emailed the President, (Bud) he came back with an offer of 200 dollars off their quoted price of $1998.00 bring it a total of $1798.00. Mind you, I had a coupon of 25% off that was emailed to me.. 25% off the quoted price is $1,498.50. The owner wouldnt honor his own coupon, (beyond laughable). So I emailed him taking a different approach, and took the over priced items off my list and would have another contractor complete those items and asked if he could complete the reasonably priced ones. Bud emailed back stating he would pass, and told me good luck finding someone else These guys are jokers just trying to gouge and scam people of simple tasks around the house, they are not punctual, unprofessional in their interactions, cant do math, or pick up the phone to call people back when they requested a quote. Dont waste your time.
Mr. Handyman of Northeast Johnson County's reply
The original estimate contained the 25% discount. Joshua wanted an additional 25% discount. I actually offered another $200. He basically wanted a 50% discount. So now he is writing a negative review. We take great pride in our service as you can see from our other reviews.
