I hired Marcus for upper cabinet installation. Marcus is professional/punctual and extremely talented with his craft. What i was expecting as a 6 hour project with 3 guys took Marcus under 1hr 30 min with perfect results. I ran a level on all sides of the cabinets and it’s PERFECT. He did all of this work with excellent pricing. I am already committed to asking him to finish the rest of the projects at my home. I would/will highly recommend Marcus to anyone needing professional work done.

I highly recommend Zimmer Construction LLC for any of your projects. I had a few contractors come out and give me estimates on remodeling my kitchen. I choose Zimmer Construction because Roy was full knowledge with giving me ideas and the pricing was fair. The crew was very professional removed everything to the bare studs and the flooring removed to the subflooring. I was a very indecisive on what exactly I wanted done with my kitchen. I gave Roy ideas and he added more with great detail making it stand out more. Due to the changing of project ideas, pricing changed as well to get me a look that I just love. It cost a little more for the changes I made but they were well worth it. Roy and the crew are professional and detail oriented. He came in with the adequate tools and materials to get the job done right and in a timely manner. They handled everything from the flooring, cabinets, drywall, tile work, electric, plumbing, trim work and painting. Every project I had them do was done well above average. Great company to work with and I couldn’t be more pleased with the work.

It was important to John to do a good job on the tasks I gave him. He didn't cut corners, and worked his (you know what) off. He built me a walkway that required a LOT of stone cutting and he seemed to enjoy that work. He also restained some kitchen cabinets. I always seem to have things that need fixing, and John is versatile. He knows how to do a lot of different thing. I'll call him first next time I need something.

Asked Ray to build a custom cabinet for a den renovation. I provided the original idea and Ray took it and made it exceptional. He then custom replicated existing woodwork (1880s) so the built-in looked original to the room. Absolutely beautiful! But most of all, his work ethic is unsurpassed! Always delivered exactly what he promised! Thanks Ray!

Shane was right on time. We needed a cabinet assembled, garage storage rails and a bike rack hung and some pictures and a mirror hung. He did a great job. Everything was centered and leveled properly. A couple places need some touch up paint after the work was completed and he took care of it, even finding some areas that needed a touch up that weren't part of the projects. One issue we had was not his fault. The bike rack needed to be hung on a stud. There is a quirk in the house where the stud didn't run down the entirety of the wall. One screw was in the "bottom" stud, but the top screw was just in the drywall. So when we went to hang the bike the next day, the rack began to pull from the wall. I called Shane and he came out out 30 minutes later, diagnosed the issue and rehung the bike rack, cleaning up the prior holes. We'll definitely use SK Maintenance again. Very satisfied with the quality of work and Shane appears to be a stand up guy.

Extremely satisfied with Brummel Construction as I have used Ed on a full kitchen remodel with cabinet and appliances installation along with tile of floor and back splash. Was very pleased that I had him do several other projects to include: master bath remodel, fireplace front resurfaced with tile and flat screen TV hung so no wires show. Also Ed did remarkable wood work on replacement of stair railing. Also have used him on my general "to do /fix it list to include treadmill, painting, etc. Would highly recommend!

Brian built some show-stopping custom built-in bookshelves for our office area that I couldn't be more excited about. After discussing what I was envisioning, he created exactly what I wanted with little direction. His craftmanship, creativity and professionalism are top-notch. Brian is a true craftsman that will not disappoint.

Andrew did a great job installing the backsplash I picked out when redoing my kitchen. It was done really well and he made sure everything was picked up afterwards leaving me with a no clean-up for me which was greatly appreciated. The price he charged was extremely reasonable as well. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again for any other jobs!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

    How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How much does it cost to have kitchen cabinets installed?

In any kitchen, the cabinets are the main focus, so you want to make sure new or replacement cabinets are installed correctly. A professional carpenter can properly, securely mount new cabinets to the wall; the national average cost for this service is $7,725, although the cost varies widely depending on the type of cabinets, their material and their size, and the accessories you add. A typical fee is $70 per linear foot to remove existing cabinets and assemble and install new ones; the cost is less if you do the demolition and removal yourself. Stock cabinets are the least expensive to have installed, ranging from $75 to $400 each; semi-custom cabinets range from $150 to $900 each; and custom cabinets cost from $500 to $1,400 each. Wood cabinets are more expensive than those made from plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and finished with a laminate. Wood cabinets range in cost from $80 to $160 per linear foot. Laminate-finished cabinets cost $35 to $75 per linear foot, on average.
