Before I found Jimmy through Thumbtack, I was a girl who had dreams and a vision, but lacked the direction of where to go and what to do with my talents. Jimmy has helped me learn structure for song writing, as well as vocal lessons, and theory. Through his coaching I am able to bring my ideas to life and write songs with substance. I am so excited to see the progression of all of my projects and hope that i can use my songs to one day inspire others to do what they love. I am so blessed to have found such a great instructor who only tries to bring out the best in me. Thank you for believing in me!

I have only had a handful of lessons with Dr. Hall and already I'm learning to do things with my voice that I never thought I could do. Dr. Hall is a wonderful teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable about music; not only does he explain the proper technique for singing, but he also explains why that technique works. He is very encouraging and all together a warm and delightful individual. With his easy-to-understand instructions and focus on the correct technique for singing, Dr. Hall is the ideal voice instructor.

Bethany has been providing voice lessons to my 10-year-old daughter for a few weeks. She clearly knows what she is doing both musically and regarding working with children. She knows how to talk to my daughter and challenge her without overwhelming her with too much information all at once. I have been most impressed with her willingness to go above and beyond to meet my daughter's interests by looking for specific music for her that will meet her personal needs. We both love that she didn't just come in with her own plan and try to force my daughter to adapt to it. She has also been great because she is not trying to force my daughter to sing like a Disney princess which is good because my daughter is an alto, not a soprano! She is really helping her learn how to control and get the most out of her own voice. I cannot think of anything that I would change about our experience with Bethany.

Verity is a highly skilled vocal professional who focuses on solid technique and musicianship. She gives her students the opportunities they need to strive for their goals and succeed as classically trained vocalists. I highly recommended Verity from my own experience taking lessons from her. I was taught for four years in high school and competed in and won various vocal competitions. I also took lessons on and off through college. Through the years, I have taken many opportunities to sing at political events and church gatherings and take part in musical theater productions. I attribute my successes to my lessons with Verity. I find it amazing how much I improved over time through my lessons, and I still thoroughly enjoy singing when the opportunity arises.

I had the opportunity to have voice lessons with Anya and it was absolutely great! She was flexible enough to work with me via Skype since we weren't located in the same state. Each week there was something new I learned about music and singing in general. Every time we tried something new Anya made sure I had full understanding of it and was very open to questions. I would definitely recommend Anya to anyone who is looking for vocal or music lessons. She's totally the best fit for the job! 😊

Our daughter has been taking voice lessons from Michelle for two and a half years and has made great progress. Since she started with Michelle, she has earned a spot in a metro-wide honor choir and has landed roles in the school musical.

A lovely vocal instructor, Amy was punctual, clearly knowledgable, and incredibly patient with our five year old. Somehow, she got the kid (who wanted lessons) to sing and sing well. And, it's nice having instructor with a beautiful voice to overhear from the other room.

Hello! Do you have a child who wants to learn how to sing, but you don't want to spend a fortune on private lessons? Are you looking for a fun introduction to music and singing yourself? We might be a perfect fit! I have been taking voice lessons for the past 8 years studying under many different teachers in both classical and musical theater styles. I'm about to earn my BA in Music (primary instrument voice) and Theatre Arts in December from Benedictine College. Recently, I started giving lessons to friends, and I am looking to expand my clientele to include beginning children and adult students. Whether you want help preparing for an audition, want to brush up on your musicianship skills or just want to sing for the joy of singing without hurting your voice or the ears of those around you, we will come up with a simple lesson plan to fit your needs and comfort level. Since I am just starting out as a teacher, the lessons will be very affordable and I will work with you to find a price that suites us both. (Nothing like the $50 to $100 an hour most experienced teachers charge!)

About

I help my students build their singing voices starting with the basic fundamentals of healthy technique. If you have ever taken dance, you will have heard your dance teacher tell you that you should take Ballet. The reason is because Ballet is where you learn the essentials of classic technique. When you have these skills, you will be able to dance well in all styles of dance. The same is true for singing. When you have acquired the essential skills of good classical vocal technique, you will be able to sing well in all styles of singing, including Country, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Pop.

Don't take my word for it, hear what students have to say! "Alex knows how to dissect a song, pull it into little pieces, and then reassemble it into something you hadn't even realized it could be" Hassan Nazari-Robati Lumière - “Beauty and the Beast” National Tour "Alex was able to bring out a quality in my voice that I had never heard before! He knew where and how to help bring the best out of me!" Phillip Ramsey Regional New York Performer “I needed a specific song for a last minute audition. For 15 minutes before the audition Alex played it for me and offered some ideas and different choices I could make. Not only did it help me connect with the piece but it also helped me vocally. The following day I went to an audition and booked the job with just one fifteen minute session. I think what is most important to me, especially as a dancer, is that he provides a very comfortable environment where I'm not afraid to explore or try new things. He is also able to break it down into terms and ideas that are easy for me to understand and apply.” Erika Hebron Swing - National Tour of “West Side Story”
