You guys were great! Made my move super easy. I only needed to move major funiture and virtually no boxes. I got a quote from more than 10 different movers and you guys were one of 2 giving me a decent price for what I had to move. (the other company had AWEFUL REVIEWS) So many movers were trying to upcharge for moving out of state, even though it was only a 10 mile move or had a minimum charge of more than $500. I only needed two guys for about 2 hours and many companies minimum is 4 hours. You were a great price for my situation and great service. They assembled/reassembled everything that needed to be and were SUPER FAST. The crew that helped us move made sure to get done within minutes of the 2 hr mark (which included the driving time). One last thing: I had just gotten off the phone with a bit of rude worker at another company when I called to check you guys out and the call just brightened my day. Shoutout to Ryan and Puppy Power (in his poka dot bikini).

Steve and crew were super nice. They cut up a huge tree very quickly and in small enough pieces for me to manage moving myself. Even gave me some garden tips. Seems like they know a lot about a lot. I would hire again for sure.

I'm late in writing a review, but I had to let anyone that's shopping on Thumbtack know that this is a great company. Every contact I had with them - from the initial quote online to the confirmation phone call to the movers on moving day - such wonderful people! I only moved 4 miles, but there was tricky stair climbing at our destination. I was complaining, but they never did. Totally upbeat (even at 7am) and never stopping...I was quite pleased. Do not pass up this company! I've been telling everyone I know and I will definitely use them again in the future. P.S. Please give Mitch and Travis a raise or at least a good bonus!

Canaan & Cody were awesome!!! Arrived on time, were very careful with our property and were done in a little over 3 hours. They were literally running from the truck back to our apartment to get the next load. If you want a reasonably priced and caring moving, Secure Moving is your moving company!! Extremely satisfied!!!!!

I had a great experience with Metro Wide Movers. The crew showed up on time and ready to go. Got my house loaded up on 3 hours and got straight on the road to STL (they actually beat me down). We were unloaded and everything set up before dinner time. I would tell everyone moving local or out of town to use these guys. Wonderful job.

These guys are the Zappos of moving furniture in and out of a storage container. Even though I made a last-minute request, I was still able to get someone out to help me move stuff. Quick, professional, good customer service on the back end.

I've moved a number of times and the experience with past movers has been mediocre at best. I must say that moving with Aim High has been a very pleasant experience, and I would recommend them to anyone that needs movers. They did an excellent job.

We had them move us a few weeks ago. They were outstanding!! They worked so hard and efficiently and took great care of all of our fragile and valuable items. We also thoroughly enjoyed the personalities of the guys that came to move us. We would highly recommend them to anyone who is planning a move either in the KC area or anywhere in the country. Moving is never any fun, but these guys made the whole experience easy and they were great!

Bryan & his crew are very professional. Always on time, prepared, courteous & most of all they treat your home & furnishings like they would treat their own. This is our second time to use PoorMan's Moving-the first was from Mission KS to Blue Springs when we married & merged homes. Two guys came to Mission to load me & one went to Blue Springs to help make room for my thing a. They were absolutely awesome! The second time was yesterday & they moved my daughter from one 3rd floor apartment to a 3rd floor apartment in another building. They were quick & done in 2hrs. If you're planning a move or know someone who is please give Bryan a call. They will take great care if you!!

I called Weekend Warrior Moving to help me move out and into a bigger house and they were just outstanding! I was already having a bad day when my girlfriend decided to cheat on me and eventually I had enough of it so I called them to set up a day to come out and help me move. They're absolutely professional and were really positive friendly people and I can defintely use that this time around. They brightened up my day for sure. Also their prices are very reasonable. If I ever have to move again in the near future I will definitely give them a call no doubt. Thanks guys!

Great moving company! Aardvark Moving Company was very excellent. The price range listed is misleading - it depends on how much you have and how far you're moving. They moved my 4-bedbroom house and a garage full of stuff from Sedalia to KC, for around $1500. They arrived on time, didn't break anything, unloading went smoothly and were very courteous. The price was very reasonable and they give a firm price prior to the move so you know how much it is - i.e., no surprises! This of course depends on you giving an accurate inventory. I was very satisfied and would not hesitate to use them again if/when needed.

We were combining households and had to move a piano upstairs. When we realized the piano was too much for us to handle, we called Moovers to help us out. That same piano that we could barely move, they made look easy! I can't thank Moovers enough for helping us out!!

Rebecca was extremely accommodating, as our scheduled movers backed out at the last minute. She returned my call from the weekend early on Monday and had 2 helpers out by 10:45 that morning. The helpers were later than expected, but worked well. They didn't take direction very well, which was frustrating. I ended up moving things from room to room because they weren't listening to where I asked them to place things. Overall, though, they worked hard, were pleasant and patient with my three young kids running around, and were non smokers, so I'm satisfied.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
