"Jeffrey greeted me promptly and led me to the room. Such an awesome massage. I rarely take time for myself, but decided to give it a try. Very glad that I did. He is a very nice guy that knows what he is doing. Can't wait to find my next block of time with him. "

"Everyone says my massages help them to feel better. I’m respectful and professional. I do not annoy you with too much talking unless you want an education on what you can do to improve your health during massage (optional). I have a degree in psych and am studying for the MCATs so have some medical knowledge. Studied Reflexology at Wichita Massage Institute. I prefer to do Swedish with some occasional deep tissue movements."

"Professional Cuddle sessions are a safe space where you can discover your touch needs and practice asking for what you want through healthy, platonic touch. We do this by consensual agreement and boundary setting, which are maintained and communicated verbally throughout our session. Each session flows based upon both our preferences and comfort levels. It’s a judgment-free zone where you can feel connected without any pressure, expectations or need to perform. It’s a place you can just be yourself and enjoy nourishing, healing touch. How does cuddling look for you? It could be sitting, standing, lying down beside each other, hugging, leaning into, hands on heart, back to back, tracing skin, stroking the face and hair, holding hands, talking, laughing, breathing, or just BE-ing. During our session, we can talk or be silent, explore cuddling styles or remain in one cuddle the whole time–so ask for what you’d like! Together we’ll create how we cuddle together. We can also do things while we cuddle like reading, movie watching, restorative yoga, eye-gazing, meditation, or even just talking. My goal is to aid you in learning to clearly communicate your needs/desired touch while feeling fully connected, supported, and appreciated."

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
