Paradigm Construction is an top of the line contracting company delivering excellent work and customer service! Jason Culture of Paradigm Construction took on my roofing project that included the removal of 3 layers of shingles, replaced rotten wood in area of leak, complete roof shingle replacement, removal of brick chimneys, retiled roof in chimney areas and gutter / downspout removal and new installation. He is very professional, formal and thorough. I appreciate his exceptional organizational skills, and straight forward approach to his work. He was able to assess, plan and excute my project while keeping me abreast of project progress and expectation of completion. He is very detailed and thorough in every aspect of his work. The cost and labor of the work done fell below all other contractors estimates submitted for this project. Jason has been a blessing to me and my family. I highly recommend Jason Cultur of Paradigm Construction to my family members, friends, co-workers and anyone else who is in need of a great contractor! Sincerely, Tracy Ford

Paragon conducted a full exterior renovation on my home. Starting with new vinyl siding, stone columns, front porch addition, including aluminum wrapping of windowshit and trim...they also removed and replaced our roofing which included asphalt shingles and flat roofing using top of the line products with good warranties on product / labor. The staff at Paragon is premier, personable and professional. They have become friends that we are excited to refer. The craftsmen who conducted the work were nothing shy of amazing. Clean cut, trustworthy and friendly. They cleaned everyday before leaving and completed the projects timely. Finally, Paragon took zero money up front. They offered financing and only collected as each phase was complete.

I called Kingdom Exteriors for my elderly mother who had a very leaky roof. She is very satisfied with her new roof. The job included a ridge vent, membrane roofing on a flat porch and shingles on the pitched roof. The price was right and the work was done expertly. Mr. Lamb's crew was prompt, professional and fast. The arrived in the morning and did not leave until the entire roof was completed that evening. They cleaned up completely and the house looks great!

I was reached out by Kris very quickly, he came out and gave me the best quote by far out of anyone else (5+ quotes gathered). He explained what needed to be done and some of the things that may come up unexpectedly. I agreed to move forward with him and within 2 days a new roof was up on our house. I explained that I had pets and the number one priority on clean up was nails. I expected to find maybe a handful (being reasonable) but I couldn't find 1 after I walked through. When I have some more money saved up I will have Kris install new gutters for me. I would definitely recommend hiring, and have already done so to my neighbors.

After talking with a couple of contractors, I hired Brian to repair the roof over my family room and the ceiling damaged due to roof leakage. I also needed repairs to my balcony and the door into the family room. All of the repairs needed were due to water and wind damage that had accumulated over years. I also chose to have skylights installed since the roof and ceiling were both being repaired. Brian was nothing short of fantastic! He is a perfectionist and his work exceeded even my own very high standards! He is also the most honest contractor I have ever hired. I say this because he stuck to the estimates he quoted even though there was greater damage than anticipated hiding under the balcony carpeting and roof shingles. Brian also worked late into the evening many nights and worked under tarps when it was raining. He also completed some additional small repairs that I had been putting off and charged a very reasonable rate for those repairs. I cannot say enough positive things about Brian. I feel so lucky to have found him and will turn to him first for any future home repairs--construction or otherwise.

Sunrise exteriors was completing a roof down the street from my house in West Chester. I asked them for a quote and they offered to give me a free inspection. Upon inspecting they felt they had found enough damage to have my roof covered by the insurance. I was reluctant because the last time I dealt with my insurance they were so difficult that I gave up. The gentleman that did the inspection explained to me that they will deal with the insurance for me so I don't have to, and they did! I now have a brand new 50yr roof and my only out of pocket expense was my deductible plus they upgraded me to a beautiful architectural shingle for free instead of the flat ones that I already had!

I hired Tyler last year to install a roof on my home. The work he did was exceptional. He went above and beyond in communication during the project. He completed the work within the time discussed. And at job completion he took the extra time to ensure that I understood all warranties associated with the workmanship and the shingles. I would definitely hire Tyler and ultimate restorations again for any future roof and I may need.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

    • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
      • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
    • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
    • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
    • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
    • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
