!!! Beware !!! Do not hire Richard & Tina (R&T; R-and-T) Home Repairs Here's why: We contacted R&T for a master bathroom remodeling project in mid-April 2015. They evaluated the job and gave us a very reasonable quote of $2000 for shower plumbing, tiling, and installation; vanity plumbing and installation; toilet relocation; and minor electrical work. The final provisions of the contract were the following: >> Timing to complete the work: 6 days >> We (the homeowners) would purchase and, thus, own all materials >> Price for the completed project: $2000 ($1000 deposit at time of contract signing) We signed the contract and gave the deposit payment on May 13th. At this time, we also requested a list of materials that needed to be purchased so they could start the work as soon as possible. R&T said they would provide the list when they start the job on May 18th. Starting on May 18th and in the other 5 days that R&T showed up at our house for work: >> They arrived 1-2 hours later than our arranged start time with no call about their delay. >> They gave us a list of materials [which we purchased on the same day], then they purchased many of the same pieces on their own & charged us for them. >> They spent no more than 3 hours per day on the job, took excessive smoke breaks, and on most days, left after less than 1 hr without any progress. >> They cut the water line to our 2nd bathroom toilet without telling us for a week. >>>> They did not return our calls or text messages for that whole week. >>>> Instead of fixing what they did, they patched the work with a SharkBite cap. >> They did not follow the design schematic/plan for our shower, nor state they would deviate from the plan. They arbitrarily placed the valves for the shower fixtures and pipes in random locations. >> Without prior notification, they did not show up for work for 4 consecutive days due to various other appointments [we were only informed of these appointments when we contacted them on days they were scheduled to arrive & their activities online]. On June 5th, R&T told us that they would not be able to complete the project due Richard requiring a triple heart bypass procedure on June 8th. Richard stated that "work would still be good for him in his recovery," and that they would come to our house on June 7th at 2pm to formally break the contract and return our $1000 deposit. On that day, when they had not arrived by 3pm, we called them and they said they would be at our house by 5pm. They never arrived, and we have not heard from them since the phone call on June 7th. The contract is still open and we have not been refunded our deposit. They have not returned any of our phone calls. Unfortunately we now know why we were the third plumbers hired to do a simple bath remodel. Several things she didn't mention is how many days we were postponed due to them, how days we could do little or no work because they bought wrong parts (we asked several times to go with them)then when in frustration we bought parts ourselves they cancelled check. We installed those parts and didn't get paid for them or their installation. We wish them well but we can't work for free.
