For the past twenty years, I have been honored to direct the Masters in Corporate Real Estate (MCR) Capstone Course, a course required for candidates to the MCR designation. As it is a case study class similar to the Harvard Business Review process, I invite the best in the industry to share their experience and learnings. I seldom bring in state government cases as unfortunately they are rarely leading edge and dynamic. Because of recommendations from industry greats that I respect, I made an exception and invited Charles Lawrence, then head of Real Estate for West Virginia to present to us in Atlanta, GA. Charles' presentation and his story of achievement were nothing short of amazing. The class responded beyond expectation, a result of both Charles' entertaining and even humorous presentation style as well as an incredible story of achievement against the type of odds that others use to excuse performance. The class choose the West Virginia case study as the basis of their final capstone presentations, a testament to their enthusiasm for the achievements and leadership of Charles not only in the class, but certainly within his state and the profession in general. Charles has a skill set, style, and record of achievement that puts him in the class of leaders within our industry.

One specific example with the marketing: we determined that a new website and better digital/internet marketing would help.
