We had Eric come out to remove debris leftover from a tree removal we had done ourselves as well as to grind the stump. He did an outstanding job, responded to our notice very quickly and came out the next day. If I need tree service in the future he will definitely be my go to call.

Mullins is hands down the most professional Tree Removal service I have ever come across. They removed 4 large trees from our property and removed stumps as well. They cleaned up all debris and made sure our property was nice and clean before leaving. Cecil is a stand up guy. If you want first class customer service and a price that is as fair as they come then look no further than Mullins. I can't say enough good things about these guys! Hire them and see for yourself.

I hired these guys to remove some very large piles of yard debris from my home. I have only one small complaint about these guys, and it's so small, I almost rated them 5 stars... it's about time management. I was getting a little worried about their start time and finish time, rightfully so... they did run out of time on the job. That being said, the bulk of the job was accomplished and it was accomplished with apparent hard work and great attitudes! Guys were polite and courteous - definitely guys I'm glad I met. I'm 100% sure I will hire these guys again. I'm confident the whole time management thing will get shored up on the next job. No doubt. These guys are men of integrity. Fabulous guys. Great value. They earned their money and I got my money's-worth. Highly recommend them! If I get another chance to review them on Thumbtack, I'm confident I'll be rating them 5 stars.

Logan did a good job, but the first couple of times he showed up by himself. The job was quite a large one, replacing several shrubs and trimming all the others around the house. At first he was to only remove and replace two rose bushes, but getting into the job we found several other shrubs were bad and needed to be replaced. He did this with out problem but it did take him several days to complete the job. Part of that was ordering the new shrubs. He did bring in another person to help him after a couple of days and completed the job as agreed. It did take him a bit longer than I expected, but he did get the job completed to my satisfaction.

My first time using LouGrass for a spring yard cleanup, and I was very please. They were on time, polite, very professional, and I didn't have to spend a ton of time on the phone or email to get the appointment scheduled. Their work speaks for itself, and was very well priced. The whole yard (mulch beds, trimmed bushes, leaf removal, etc) looks great and is ready for spring planting. I will be scheduling them for weekly service this season. Highly recommend!

Excellent work! I have used Justin Lynch and his services numerous times (approximately 40 hours of work) and been highly satisfied EVERY time. He has done the following types of jobs for me: spreading truckloads and truckloads of mulch, patching concrete to fix a dog run fence post, pruning every tree in my yard, digging up and then transplanting irises and ferns, clearing out beds, trimming deadwood from flowers, getting rid of invasive honeysuckle, leaf blowing and mulching. He has done enough work for me that I feel comfortable with leaving him a list or a text with photos as to the jobs I want done. Yes, I believe him to be that trustworthy. I get home and am always pleased with the results and how much he was able to get done in the amount of time. An added benefit is he is truly a really nice guy to work with. I've worked alongside him. I love my yard and I love to work in it, but I do not always have the time to do all the things I want to do. He helps tremendously. Justin Lynch has a forestry background; he's educated about plants, trees and soil. I trust him. He's knowledgeable. I have recommended Justin Lynch to my neighbors and would recommend him to anyone who needs a hard worker.

Exceptional job done by Pedro Tino and a fellow worker. Had 3 large trees that had low overhanging branches trimmed and shaped. Also had a large dying cedar tree removed. Results were excellent and allowed clear views of the front of our home. All branches cut down were loaded in a trailer and removed. Driveway was cleared of all debris. Pedro and his worker were both proficient, knowledgeable, and provided excellent service. Extremely pleased and would recommend Tino's Tree Service to everyone. Thank you.

Diego came out and did an estimate that fit my schedule and completed the work the following Monday. The work was just as we discussed and he went above and beyond to remove the tree closest to the house to keep us safe. He truly is an honest, trustworthy businessman that is focused on doing a good job and to satisfy his customers! I will be recommending him.

Joseph has been a pleasure to work with. Requested a quote for putting Christmas lights on the second floor of my home and was contacted within hours. Received a quote the next day and was put on the schedule for 2 days later. The lights look great and prices were very reasonable. It is hard to put a price on not having to do it yourself! I am confident that any follow up maintenance and removal of the lights after the holidays will be handled in the same competent and professional manner. Would highly recommend.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

      • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
      • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
