I took six years of lessons under John Hedger, and I truly can't say enough good things about his level of performance and pedagogical approach. As a professional classical musician myself, I wouldn't hesitate to suggest John Hedger for anyone interested in guitar lessons. Few guitarists can provide both high level classical and electric/rock based lessons, and I can personally say that the quality of instruction offered by the John Hedger Guitar Studio is top notch.
My son, Ethan Portwood started out taking guitar lessons from Chris at the age of 15 then switched to taking Bass lessons after about a year. During that time Chris helped him grow into an accomplished musician and singer. Chris also helped not only Ethan but 3 others and before you knew it we had a GREAT band. Sadly though as time went on and they guys grew older the band no longer is together. Chris was and still is there for them for advice if needed. Hopefully after the first of the year we can get a new band together.
In the free lesson I learned several things that had previously been a mystery. It just hadn't clicked. He is structuring his lessons to accommodate the uke I play, which is exactly what I wanted.
My daughter Abby has been working with Tim for a few months now and just loves him! She actually gets excited about going to guitar lessons now. Tim's genuine interest in his students shows through, and he adjusts his teaching to meet the interests and abilities of his students. He is a great teacher and Abby has a great deal of fun playing the guitar with Tim!
Full of positive energy. Very good teacher. Very talented. Blessed to have been taught by him. Hire this dude!
I have received multiple lessons from Ryan and he consistently brings his passion to each lesson, something I really appreciate. He knows his stuff and always has something great to teach me
I've been taking guitar lessons from Chris for two years, and I have learned so much from him in just a short amount of time. He has taught me a variety of music genres through both songs and scales. Chris is an exceptional guitarist and has an extensive knowledge of music! He excels at blending theory with practical techniques and methods. Chris helps me set weekly goals, and I always feel comfortable asking him questions. He is both encouraging and motivating. In addition, Chris has a very impressive music background--he recieved classical training in Spain, he plays in a few bands, and he has even recorded his own CD! If you're looking for a guitar teacher that will take you far, I highly recommend Chris Sullivan!

I believe that one of the things that makes me stand out is that I listen to my students & give them what they need, not what I want to teach them. There is a big difference between someone who can play guitar well & someone who can teach how to play guitar. Most musicians are focused on showing off their talent & abilities, which I think can discourage a student because they get overwhelmed with seeing all the crazy fancy things their teacher is doing. I try to show them what they need to see & give them a realistic goal to meet me at that place, then we can add new things once they have concurred that goal.
