FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
As a young person I was always very passionate about music. The guitar spoke to me like nothing else; such intimacy of sound, such passion goes into the playing. The guitar is a unique and captivating instrument, so versatile, personal and enthralling. I love to read, songwriting comes naturally for me, I've got great interest in literary works and spoken word as well. Singing and playing is a wonderful combination of my musical interest as well as my literary interests.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Be patient, practice consistently, make time for your instrument. Don't be fooled by expectations of overnight success; music is hard work and the students who do the best are the ones who are persistent in working on their instrument, not the ones necessarily with the most talent. Ask questions before you hire. Parents should sit in during lessons. Observe your child as they practice. From my experience the children who have parents participating in the activity with them do the best.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
There are many hours of prep work behind every performance. When you watch a pro or student play on stage you see the end result of a lot of work. It's wonderful fun to play, it's intense and time consuming to prepare for a performance.
