Introduction: We accept a limited number of cases for one reason - so we can spend more time on your case. We practice an aggressive, proactive brand of law, assisted by cutting edge technology. Your case will be fresh on our mind until its conclusion. Helping clients put the pieces back together after a traumatic injury is very rewarding. I have helped hundreds of clients achieve financial recovery, and thus move on with their lives, following an injury. Accessing justice is not easy; but I believe the lawyer-client relationship should be easy. Many of our clients become personal friends and/or refer friends and family to our firm, which is the highest compliment a lawyer can receive.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I personally meet with every new client at the outset of representation. After I decide to accept a case, my team goes to work immediately. Step 1: We let the opposition know that we now represent the client. This prevents the client from being intimidated or taken advantage of by an insurance company or medical provider. Step 2: We immediately begin a fact investigation. Most people don’t realize that long before they even considered making a claim injury, the insurance company or healthcare provider has already been working to minimize that claim. People have no idea what they are up against! It is critical that you hire a law firm with the ability to go to work now. We talk with witnesses, gather video tape evidence, semi-truck black boxes, medical records before they can be altered. Whatever it takes to begin to level the playing field as quickly as possible. Step 3: We work with our clients to make sure we understand their medical treatment, and to assist with finding any specialists recommended by their primary physician.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

In addition to being a trial attorney, Scott Powell is a highly skilled and nationally acclaimed negotiator. After receiving a master's degree in Diplomacy, Scott attended law school and was a national champion moot court negotiator, and represented the U.S. in international competition. In addition, Scott has served as a legal intern for the U.S. Commercial Attache office of the London Embassy, where he helped American companies do business in Europe. In 2016, Scott was asked to return to the University of Louisville law school as an adjunct faculty member, where he now teaches advanced negotiation strategies and techniques to second and third year law students. Scott's background as an accomplished negotiator gives him a unique perspective in the handling of each client's case.
