Introduction: I care about my customers and my reputation. I want every job that I do to be done not only to the customer's standards, but also to mine. I can not allow myself to leave a job until it is perfect, "good enough" should not be part of any professional's vocabulary. The ability to produce a tangible product and a visual improvement. When I leave a job and it looks noticeably better than when I arrived then I know that the customer will be satisfied.

I thought I needed new gutters but after Mike took a look and pictures to share with me, he determined I just needed a few repairs. Subsequently, the cost to fix the gutter and roof issues was a lot less than replacing all the gutters. He was very nice and professional and I'd highly recommend this company!!

Haha, sitting here on my porch, while it rains, watching the ceiling of my porch get wetter. He did caulk a spot for me when he came out to give me an estimate about 2.5 weeks ago, which was nice. Said he could do some repairs to roof to get me through until spring, at that time I wanted to replace the roof. I asked him to let me know when he could do the repairs. Still waiting. I don't really care he doesn't want to do it, just communicate.
Kennedy Roof & Repair's reply
Actual Progression of Dealings With This Customer: 1. Responded to Thumbtack request 2. Determined porch roof to be too low pitch for shingles, gave estimate for low slope modified roof replacement as well as to seal and paint chimney flashing and counter-flashing which was unrelated to the leak. While there I attempted to do a temporary repair by resealing a couple of potential leak spots. I did not charge for this and told her it was by no means a sure thing. 3. She accepted my proposal. I told her that due to the season that the work may have to wait a while due to the nature of the Self Adhered modified roofing's specific application temperature requirements. 4. She agreed that this was fine and that we should go ahead and do the chimney repair and wait until Spring to do low slope replacement due to issues of temperature and funding. 5. Here is where I made my mistake. I performed the chimney repair (clearly stated as unrelated to the roof leak) and did not contact her afterwards to inform her that it was complete. My intention was to just combine the two invoices when I did the replacement, it didn't seem worthwhile to send a $50.00 invoice and I assumed that she would notice that the flashing was now freshly painted brown. These were bad assumptions. 6. I read her negative review here and I was initially confused as she posted it without ever attempting to contact me either via phone or email to discuss the issue. 7. I reached out to her attempting to rectify the situation and explain to her how seriously I take customer service. I stated my reasoning for not sending an invoice and apologize for not contacting her after performing work. 8. She responds and seems reasonable and understanding of the situation. She requests that I just submit an invoice for the work done up to this point (for flashing repairs). 9. I comply and sent a $50.00 invoice via email which was opened on 11/30 (my billing app allows me to verify this) clearly stating that payment was due in 30 days. It is now late. In summary, I had hoped that by taking the high road with this customer that we could come to an amicable agreement and rectify the situation. That does not seem to be possible, so I now have a negative review for work that I never did and have not been paid for the work that I did do. If this experience has taught me anything, it is the importance of communication and documentation of every step of the process.
