Daniel and his men were very professional. They weren't ready to start when I called them because they were so busy. The reason they were so busy is that that they were so good. They were able to start about a week after I hired them. They came out on a Friday and worked through the weekend (Fri.,Sat. & Sun,) until the job(S) were finished. They installed a brand new electric, remote controlled electric gate (they made the gate), put a new roof on the garage, installed handicap rails in 2 bathroom, repaired two sills under the house, reset a front door that had cold air blowing around the edges as well as many other projects that needed doing. Daniel came out himself and worked with two others, they cleaned up after all their work and I wouldn't consider using anyone else in the future. Each of them was so nice that you'd gladly invite them to Sunday dinner. I recommend them highly.

Double R even did extra work that was not included at no charge; which was awesome. Double R, performed several jobs, drywall, hvac, plumbing, electrical, tile work(ceramic) and even did a small landscaping job for me. Rodrick, does an awesome job, I would recommend him to my friends and family members when work is needed.

My wife and I researched many companies and got five quotes before deciding to go with Mac Bros Company for our shingles and flat roof. This was the only company that truly listened to our desires and made sure to explain all possible options and limitations that could lie ahead. We met with Dan in early March and he told us that our shingles on the gables would be better done as high grade vinyl siding but that the eavestroughs and fascia would have to be changed at the same time. In the end, we did both our shingle and flat roofs along with our eaves fascia and soffit. Mac Brothers is highly professional, and more importantly, trustworthy company. We would definitely use this company again and would recommend you and your company without reservation

Santos was very professional and completed the door installation within the time frame he said. He had to remove an old door and install a new one fitting all of the hardware and drilling holes for the lock and handle. I would definitely use him again on other projects around the house.

I’ve been meaning to replace my roof for the last few years, but I was dreading everything about the process. I was concerned about which brand and style would be most appropriate for my needs and also about finding a company who could perform quality work. I also wanted this service performed at a reasonable price. I called Anthony’s and they dispatched an estimator the next day who arrived when they said he would. Everyone I spoke to in the company was friendly, polite and knowledgeable- meeting any questions/ concerns I had with ease. We agreed on a very reasonable price, set a date for that very same week and the only part left in the process was the installation. I was under the impression that my roof would at least take a couple of days to replace but the work crew showed up at first light and finished the job (meticulously) that same day. Within one week the process that I was dreading was complete and I realized it wasnt worth dreading at all- at least with a company like these guys.

We hired Rose Construction for roofing, hardie board siding and gutter work on our house after a tornado. They took time to carefully inspect the roof, siding and other exterior parts of the house and didn't just do a walk around and leave like some of the other companies I met with. They weren't the least expensive, but we felt most comfortable with them. The crew was over early in the morning the following Monday and completed the job in two and a half days. All the debris from the work was completely cleaned up and they even put down seed and straw where the grass was trampled. Our project manager came back out a few days later to do an inspection to make sure we were happy with the work and collect the final payment. We would hire again.

My Wife and I were in the process of getting our current home in Montz, La ready for sale in the local real estate market. The house had several items that needed to be addressed with repairs ranging from a leaky roof in the covered porch, laminate floor repairs, roof inspection, glass window replacement, porch door replacement, and new carpeting replacement. Gasper Pumila managed to handle these repairs either himself or arrange to have other co contractors come in and repair or replace. We are very satisfied with Mr. Pumila's service and would recommend him to other homeowners. David & Tammy Guzzardi Montz, Louisiana

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
