Gianni did a complete renovation of my home in Metairie. He is very knowledgable and thorough. Gianni was on time every day until my home was finished. The quality of work is outstanding and done to perfection. There is not one thing that I would change about the complete renovation. Gianni went over and beyond with every detail of my house, even to carve intricate details in my bathroom tile. I am very impressed with his talents. Brilliant work and talent - I would highly recommend him to everyone.

Mr Duncan took my problems with my home on his off day. He quoted the job the same day and came back the next day and completed my home repairs. He fixed a roof leak, changed ceiling tiles and installed recess lights, replaced kitchen faucet and repaired a drain line. He showed up to the house early with necessary tools to do the repairs...Highly recommend Mr Duncan!!!!!!!!!!

We hired Br Pro Painting to complete multiple projects around our house that we'd been meaning to handle for a couple months now (painting, drywall repair, fence repair, broken tiles in the bathroom, a door that wouldn't close, etc.). When Gustavo and Ruben began working, we discovered that our drywall repair actually included mold, termites, and rotten wood and became a much more extensive repair than anticipated. They communicated every step along the way to us and did the work right (no easy/quick fixes) at a price we felt was fair. Overall, we would recommend Br Pro Painting to anyone looking to tackle projects around the house (even beyond painting). They worked efficiently, were very friendly and trustworthy, and overall did a great job.

Todd and his crew put in new tiles in and around our shower, kitchen, and laminate floors in some rooms. He also put in new baseboards and doors. He was very thorough in his waterproofing process and educated us on grout and other products to make sure we received a full warranty. He did exceptional work and we will be using him again. His crew was respectful to my family and my property at all times. He also let us know the routine maintenance for our floors. I changed my mind on colors halfway through and he was more than happy to take care of it. My house looks beautiful

Chas and his workmen did an exceptional job remodeling the bathtub area of our master bathroom. This involved demolition of the old bathtub enclosure and installing new tile, bath fixtures, lighting, and glass shower door. The final results are fantastic! Chas took a dated and somewhat non-functional bathtub area and created a modern, aesthetically beautiful shower area with an overhead rain-shower, a handheld shower wand, and a very tasteful sliding glass shower door. As part of the renovation, Chas replaced a very awkward door with a pocket-door that allows for greater movement in the shower area. All through the project, the workmen were polite, professional, and took great care to keep the area as clean as possible. When we decide to redo our other bathrooms, I will definitely call on Chas and his company again. I highly recommend Olverenterprises to everyone who desires to have bath renovations done that are professional, done to exact specifications, and completed by people who are respectful of the property in which they are working. GREAT JOB CHAS!

Morgan did great work in the bathroom re-tiling our floor, installing new shower doors and refinishing the molding in our space. His quality is excellent. My only complaint or advice is to nail down the timeline and completion date with him. Our project took a quite a bit longer than we wanted. Having said that we are certainly very pleased with the finished product.

We hired SEC HomeRemodeling to repair and remodel our bathroom floor and shower surround. The subfloor had rotted away under our existing 50 year old tile floor in our sole bathroom. Paul and Todd fixed the structural problems under our floor (repairing/adding floor joists, installing new subfloor) and now we have a beautiful, solid porcelain tile floor. They also remodelled our tile shower surround and installed a new tub and bronze shower hardware. We love our new bathroom. You can see the handmade quality work and the attention to detail that Paul and Todd put into our project. Our remodel came in on budget and was completed a few days earlier than the estimated time. We put our trust in this company, and they respected that trust. Overall, we had a great experience with SEC Home Remodelling, and we will use them for future projects.

This was by far the best experience of our lives when hiring an unknown person. Anthony Lott is a professional in all aspects of his craft. His work is perfect, as he is a perfectionist. He is punctional and pleasant. We found out that he is not only a painter but does floors, ceramic tile, Sheetrock and carpenter work and much more. He will be returning here to do ceramic tile work and carpenter work in the future. We have not only found the perfect person for all of our needs but feel like we have made a new friend for life. Today as I put my furniture back in place, and looking at this beautiful job I feel blessed to have met Anthony Lott. Audrey and Joe Ballon, Franklinton la

Glen is still working on my project but so far I couldn't be happier. He was hired to remove ceramic tiles from 3 rooms and then install porcelain wood-look tiles in the same 3 rooms. I find Glen to be a very conscientious worker. He makes sure his work is done right and cleans up when his day is done. Since this was such a large project he has been at my home for about a week and when I get home from work there has never been a big mess. I would definitely recommend Glen to anyone needing things done around their house and actually already have. Since job is not yet complete I don't have pictures to post but will try to add some later.

Emerson repaired 6-8 large ceramic tiles that buckled up in front of my kitchen sink. He came out on a Sat. And removed the tiles so that the area could be walked on. He offered to come on Sun to do the repairs! Price was reasonable and he even spent the time to reuse the tiles that were not broken or cracked, and offered to match the tiles for future need. He worked efficiently and cleaned up. Excellent job!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to get tiling done?

You can install tiling on your floors, walls, counters, kitchen backsplash, outdoor patio and shower — to name a few places. Tile is beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and resilient against kids and pets. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Often, tile installation specialists quote a price per square foot for installation. Costs can increase if you want the pro to supply the tile instead of ordering it yourself. Other factors that can increase cost include specialized installation with a unique design that will require more labor to install.

Prep work will also affect tile installation costs. Demolition of the existing floor, counter or backsplash takes time and energy that will be reflected in the price. Necessary repairs, such as a sub-floor that needs bolstering before tile flooring can be installed, will also increase costs. For tile showers, one example of tile installation cost may be approximately $25 per square foot including all materials and labor. Average tile installation costs for backsplashes may run anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the materials selected and the amount of labor required. The larger the area where tile is being installed, the lower the price per square foot will likely be. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for wood-look tile installation in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
