Very professional, punctual, and willing to work with your schedule. I had a few small projects around my home that I had been putting off and in a mere 2 hours this team took care of all of them. They were very precise, careful, and clean with their work as well as a joy to be around. I would and will hire again and have already recommended to friends and colleagues.

It is very rare to meet a contractor that takes such pride in his work and treats his customers' time and resources with great respect. Gianni quoted a price for some roofing/gutter work at one of my rental properties. I agreed to the price he quoted but after making the repair he lowered the final bill because it took less time than he anticipated. How many contractors would do that? The work was high quality and he was very responsive to my calls and text messages. I highly recommend Gianni for any project big or small.

I called out Mr. Johnson out to give me an estimate on drywall and painting. His price was very reasonable. I hired him for the job, in which he completed in a timely fashion. I was not only satisfied with the work but I delighted with the finished product. Since then Mr. Johnson has been my contractor. He transformed my house to a beautiful home inside (drywall, painting, and fixtures) and out ( siding, shutters, roof, gutters and driveway.

Finally able to leave a review for this great company! I hired them to repair my roof. I had recently had my roof repaired, so I thought. The contractor ripped me off and left holes in my roof which I didn't find out until our last big rain when it was raining in my house! A friend of mine referred Legacy Restoration to see if they could help me. I was nervous because I had been ripped off already. I contacted Legacy, and their response time was great. They were here within 24 hours of me contacting them. Their quote was so reasonable, I was shocked. They completed the job within a weeks time. They kept me informed through the whole process keeping me at ease. There was no disruption to my household during their work. They did a fantastic job. Even the insurance company rep who came to inspect the work was very impressed with the job Legacy did. I would highly recommend them. They will also be my go to company for any future issues I may have.

Working with Bill has been a pleasure. He has been quick to respond and professional. We are working to repair a water damaged home long distance and he has been extremely helpful and has gone out of his way to meet with our insurance adjuster. He also is more than knowledgeable enough to discuss the relevant issues such as acceptable levels of moisture in the home. He has made the process much less stressful than if we were handling things on our own. I am a real-estate investor and finding people who do what they say they are going to do has become increasingly difficult. I am grateful to have found this company and plan on using their services for future projects. Additionally, I would sincerely recommend them to family and friends in need of a contractor.

I truly enjoyed working with this family team and we have more projects on the horizon. The first project we completed together was a restoration of four 100-year-old, 15ft windows - a task which many other contractors refused to even quote because it is so specialized. The Barilleau team was knowledgeable, creative, timely, and reasonably priced. I have already recommended them to friends and neighbors.

Stephen and Dixiana Trosclair 13964 JR Drive Walker,Louisiana 70785 I was introduced to Ed when he was with United Built Homes. My first impression of Ed was exceptional. All throughout the build of my new home Ed was in constant contact with me. Always checking on his contractors and asking if I needed anything on a daily basis. Also with Ed being a God fearing Christian, that was an absolute blessing to me and my wife. My wife and I have been in our new home for more than a year now and even though Ed no longer works for United Built Homes, He still kept in touch with us always asking about our home. When we were looking for a home to build I honestly believe God sent us to United Built because of Ed. Ed will always be in our hearts and in our prayers.

I couldn't envision a better contractor. Cesar completed the total rehab of a home I purchased that was in foreclosure. The house was in terrible condition and needed to be gutted to the studs. All new utilities were installed. I've been living in the home for the past 7 months and I still struggle to find issues with the work that was completed. Cesar was able to understand my renovation budget, acknowledge my vision of the completed project, manage my expectations of what could be completed with my budget (let's be honest...we all have expensive tastes until we get to the cash register lol), and was dedicated to providing quality craftsmanship. Cesar was always accessible to reach by phone, answered any question I had, and was willing to provide insight when I was contemplating decisions that I would probably regret after the project was completed. I'd recommend Cesar to anyone I hear in need of a contractor. I've included a few before and after pics to illustrate his work.

I am grateful to have found Javier, he was recommended by a family friend and I cannot thank him enough for remodeling our home that burned down a year ago. We bought a home on the next street to our first home, and had trouble finding a contractor to get the job done. Finally, we hired Javier in the beginning of the summer and the remodel was astonishing when our kitchen and entire home was finished (see review pictures below). We couldn't be happier with how our home turned out. It is gorgeous, unique, and exactly a reflection of our personal tastes. I simply cannot add enough superlative to how spectacular a job they did and how pleasant they are to work with. I would recommend them in a heartbeat!

Eagle Eye provided the labor and materials for our home addition which included expanding our master bedroom, up-grading of the master bath, the addition of a sunroom, laundry room, 1/2 bath (730 sq.ft.) and patio with cover (720 sq.ft.). They helped facilitate cost effective and wife pleasing solutions when unforeseen huddles were encountered and were accommodating to our changes in the original plans as the project progressed. Simply put, we'd recommend them to friends and family.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a general contractor?

When starting a home remodel or new construction project, you will probably hire a general contractor. A general contractor is a professional who is qualified to take a set of building plans and construct them as outlined. The general contractor may help perform the day-to-day building, or they may just hire workers and oversee all the work activities. In either case, the job of the general contractor is to see that your project gets built.

When you have a building project, ask for bids from various contractors. The bids tell you how much each will charge and what their scope of work will be. Once you have selected a bid, you sign a contract with that general contractor outlining the specifics of the project and the milestones during the project when they will receive payment installments. Once the contract is official, the general contractor will bring in their crew to begin construction. The contractor will manage the workers and subcontractors (anyone who doesn’t work directly for their company but that they need to outsource, like a marble installation pro), order all the materials, obtain work permits, and confirm that all the workers and subcontractors are completing their projects as planned. They typically handle all the payments to the workers and subcontractors, and send you invoice. For all these reasons, it’s also especially important to follow a few smart hiring practices when it comes to finding a general contractor.  If you are organized and competent to oversee construction projects, and are able to make sure everything is being built properly and meeting code, it’s possible you can be your own general contractor.

Why should you hire a contractor?

Hiring a general contractor is a good idea for many remodeling projects. Home renovation contractors have a broad range of skills to manage, coordinate and complete a project. They should help make sure your project comes in on time and within your budget as they hire and supervise all the necessary subcontractors, including electricians and plumbers. They also handle procuring all the materials required for your job. Some homeowners look to save money by acting as their own contractor, but an experienced home renovation contractor is worth the cost. They should know local building codes, be able to pull all necessary permits, and work with inspectors to make sure the construction meets local codes. Also, because they get professional discounts, they can typically buy materials at a better price than you can; better prices on materials and labor save you money, and make up for at least a percentage of the cost of the contractor.

When should you hire a contractor?

A few home remodeling projects can be done by an ambitious DIY-minded homeowner or local handyman, but many are best completed by a professional home renovation contractor. You should hire a contractor when you’re planning a large project that takes time, machinery or large tools, and several workers; a kitchen remodel, new bathroom or home addition will be most successful with a licensed, expert contractor at the helm. It’s particularly important to have a professional contractor on board for construction, electrical, plumbing and HVAC projects that require inspections to meet local building codes. Of course, you can hire a contractor for smaller projects, too, if you prefer to let an expert handle things like addition or removal of a wall, small framing projects, or anything that requires a permit.

You should hire a contractor when you’re ready to start a remodeling project and you have plans, a budget and a timeline for the work in hand, but before any remodeling work begins.

How much will it cost to remodel my house?

The cost to remodel a home is highly variable — size and scope of the project, quality of materials, and the number of subcontractors required to complete the job all affect the total cost. The average national cost of a home renovation project is $13,500. The national average per-square-foot cost of a remodel ranges from $25 to $100. Nationally, kitchen and bathroom remodels are the most popular types of projects, in part because they typically have the highest return on investment when the home is sold. The national average cost of a major kitchen remodel ranges from $25,000 to $62,000, while the average bathroom remodel tends to cost $6,000 to $18,000. In addition to materials and labor costs, many remodeling project costs include permit fees, which, average $900 or more, depending on your location.

Do I need a contractor for a kitchen remodel?

A kitchen remodel is one of the most important investments you can make in your home, and it’s critical to get the details right; that’s where a home renovation contractor comes in. A minor remodel usually includes new cabinet faces and hardware, replacement appliances, and paint, while an extensive job may enlarge the kitchen’s square footage, install new cabinets or an island, change the layout, and lay new tile or hardwood floors. Any renovation that includes filing permits, construction, or electrical or plumbing work is best completed by an experienced contractor who knows local codes.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
