Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Hi! My name is Heather. I have my BA in mathematics and have been tutoring math for over 7 years. In that time, I've had over 35 students (middle school, high school, and college students), and every student passed his/her desired class or test! I have experience tutoring middle school math, high school (algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, pre-calc, and statistics), and college level (basic college level math courses, calc 1, and calc 2), as well as test prep (SAT 1 and 2, ACT math section, math MTEL, and math portion of the GREs). I am patient, dedicated, and able to describe concepts in multiple ways to help guarantee that the student truly "gets it". If you are interested in hiring me as your math tutor, I encourage you respond with an inquiry and any questions you may have. I have a resume and letters of recommendation upon request, and I look forward to hearing from you!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

As I am in the midst of starting my own tutoring business, I am doing a lot of research. I just submitted paperwork to become a member of the National Tutoring Association (this is the only tutoring association in the US that has an accredited certification). I will be going to a multiple day conference in March. There I will become certified. I will also learn the most current practices and many other great techniques for becoming a better tutor. I will also be a great networking event. There is a conference every year and there are multiple levels of certification. With this, I plan to continue my education in the field to make sure that I am the best tutor I can possibly be!

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently finished tutoring a student who was studying to take the GRE's. She contacted me just over a month before the test and warned be that she was really really bad in math. We met twice a week and she did great. She was dedicated, punctual, did the assignments that I asked her to do, and most importantly-came prepared to sessions with questions. She just took her test and got 110 points higher than what she was aiming for. I was especially proud because she has taken this test before she met me and within the one month of working together, she make amazing progress!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Do your research! You wouldn't just buy the first house you looked at would you? There are an overwhelming number of tutors offering the same service. Figure out what sets them apart from each other. Send emails, ask questions, look around. You are more likely to find a better match for your needs if you have more information than their basic advertisement! Don't feel guilty or like you're being annoying or too pushy! You're paying us to provide you with a service, shouldn't you know what you're getting for your money? I wish you the best of luck in your search!
