I hired Boston Just Helpers for a local move the weekend before Sept 1 through Thumbtack. They provided a great quote on Thumbtack which they subsequently changed after I contacted them directly. That alone should have caused me to reconsider hiring them, but I still moved forward with them. During the booking process, I confirmed and reconfirmed that they would begin the move at 9am, which they agreed to and even put into my contract. When I reached out to them a few days before the move to ensure everything was good to go, they told me that 9am was "a little inconvenient" and the movers would come between 10:30 and 11am instead. I would have preferred that they reached out to me proactively to request the time shift instead of just letting me know only because I reached out to them. On the day of my move, the time kept getting pushed later and later. And again, they didn't proactively reach out to me to provide an update; I had to keep calling them. Clearly they had way overbooked themselves because they could hike up their rates due to it being close to Sept 1. Three movers came but I only ever saw two working at any given time. They were careless with my things, never offering a mattress bag or special wrapping for my glass table, etc. I also had a roommate and I had to tell them about five times which things were mine (and should go in the truck) and which things were hers (and should stay in the apartment). Even so, they still brought some of her stuff to the truck and had to waste time bringing it back up. When the move was getting close to done, I noticed there were still several boxes in the moving truck, I mentioned this to the foreman and he didn't believe me. "No, everything of yours is out of the truck." A little later, he again told me that everything was out of the truck. I told him I needed to inspect it, and once again I found that an item had been missed! When it came time for me to pay, they tried to charge me for an extra half-hour, saying they finished the job at 3pm. I pulled out my phone and showed them that it was 2:30. I had also paid a $50 deposit which the movers claimed was highly unusual and said they didn't think I did pay it. Conveniently, they couldn't get ahold of their boss to verify. I've used 4-5 different moving companies for local moves in Boston, and this move was by far the worst experience.

Totally unprofessional..broke lots of my personal stuff.. they left lots of stuff behind I end up have to hide a professional moving company to get the job done. And they want to charge top dollar.. stay away from them..unless you're looking for headache.
