Introduction: Introduction: I’m Alden Lougee and I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist (MA & CA) specializing in Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT), also referred to as Trigger Point Therapy. My focus in this work is generally on relieving Myofascial pain and nerve impingements, which you may experience as pain or discomfort in affected parts of your body. NMT is a highly specialized, medically informed massage modality that works to address/reduce conditions that may be causing your pain or discomfort. NMT can work in concert with other types of treatments and assistance that engage, and in many cases, it may help to alleviate the need to do so. Of course, if you have seen another caretaker, it will be important for you to share this with me so that I can support you in an integrated way. I am also proficient in providing more general and relaxing massage work including deep tissue, Swedish, sports and chair massage.
Once you contact me, we will determine your goals for your work and we can agree upon a course of action to best meet them, considering the nature of your discomfort. Where it is called for, I employ a medically and physiologically based evaluation process to ensure that my work most effectively address and help improve your needs. The results of my work might be very evident, or may be subtle and more than one treatment may be most effective.
And, if you’re just looking to relieve stress and/or recover from your activities of daily living, we can focus on just that. Thys type of work can be separate or integrated with other work that we may agree upon. In other words, I’m here to work with you to best meet your desires and needs, providing guidance in working with you as your partner.
My primary practice space is centrally located within an office center, on Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington, near the Cambridge line and in close proximity to both the Davis and Alewife MBTA stations, with frequent bus service and on-street parking.
