Do not use this company!
Ventura Land Maintenance, Inc.'s reply
I am sorry but I believe you have our company confused with someone else, I have looked through our company database and we have found no one by your name in our records? If there is something we can help you with please let me know but I believe this is a mistake.

Ventura came out in the Spring to put down loam and plant grass. They came on a day when we weren't home and according to our neighbors, put down seed in pouring rain leading to most of the seed pooling or running off into the driveway. Our yard now looks worse than it did before. This company had promised to come back out in 30 days and assess the work which they never did. Extremely unprofessional overall and they have avoided all of my calls since they did the work. Buyer beware!

Rich was very friendly, communicative, easy to work with. We had an excess of landscaping from previous owners and needed to convert it to plain lawn. Rich's crew came several days later than estimated, but still reasonably soon. He sent a stump grinder to remove 2 large stumps, then a bobcat came to dig everything up and haul away. Following that, he put in a few inches of loam, then his crew spread seed and lightly raked it in. Several thousand sq ft of lawn was done in about 3-4 hours. All done at a very reasonable price compared with other bids I entertained. And despite my grave doubts, some very hardy perennials did not grow back in large numbers after the bobcat scraped their tops off. I was quite skeptical that simply taking the top off perennials would kill them. Of course, repeated lawn mowing finished off whatever attempted to grow back. Here are some areas of improvement: 1. I believe the proper procedure after raking in the grass seed is to go over it with a roller, so the soil is somewhat compacted. Rich's crew did not do that and the next rainstorm washed quite a bit of the topsoil and seeds away. In fact, the loam was so soft any adult footstep on it left a deep imprint. 2. The loam was FULL of crabgrass seeds. First the regular lawn seeds sprouted, then the crabgrass took over. Next year I'll have to do aggressive crabgrass prevention. 3. It would have been nice to receive a followup phone call or even better, on-site inspection from Rich. That might have earned him additional business.

We did not have a very good experience with this company. Then when we called about problems, they played the blame game. My subcontractor this or that. They were RIGHT THERE for payment, though!
Ventura Land Maintenance, Inc.'s reply
we apologize that you were not satisfied we did enjoy working for you, I do believe under the circumstances of this winter with 110.6 inches of snow fall within a 2 month span and between the amount of space we had to plow and the limited accessibility at times it was a challenge. There were a few mishaps but we always responded as quickly as possible and tried our best to help keep the property safe from setting snow aside and keeping the roof clean we did our best to keep our clients happy without excessive charges and a reasonable amount in place to work with. Everybody's first round with a new property is a new learning experience now that we know the property better and the operating times and procedures I believe things would go very smoothly, we would be more than happy to work with you again.
