Introduction: I'm a portrait and event photographer with 15 years of professional experience behind the camera in NYC, LA, and Boston. One of my strengths is that I am a people person - I have the ability to ease all my clients to feel comfortable during our time. I am skilled technically with lighting and direction while still being very patient and personable. This balance I believe is the key to my candid and intimate photos. I always tell my clients "If you don't look good, I don't look good". I make it a priority to check in with you throughout my process, to show you images on the back of the camera. Steven was incredible. I’m not from the area and was looking for surprise engagement photos; he was extremely meticulous and great to work with. He was very communicative and helped me with ideas/locations to take advantage of what we were hoping to get out of our photos. He kept in contact frequently and reached out to discuss alternatives when the weather was looking like it might not cooperate. Overall it was everything I was hoping for and I would absolutely recommend him.

I hired Steven Duarte to photograph our family reunion of 31 people, with group/family posed shots and candid shots. When he answered my request for information on Thumbtack, Steven offered to chat on the phone, and when we did, I was convinced I wanted him to do the job. He was high energy, interested in what I was looking for, and eager to meet our family and bring out the best in them. He arrived early and spent time getting a sense of the outdoor space and light (he also came prepared for indoor space), and just getting to know people. His personality is so genuine and winning that people relaxed around him and he was able to bring out the best, real "us." When it came to the group shots--the whole family and smaller family groups--he was attuned to just what was needed and coached us toward that. The preview photos arrived in my inbox as promised in three days, and they were beautiful, everything I had hoped for. Steven promptly did any touch-ups I requested. I am completely satisfied with his work and highly recommend him. You don't always get someone who is gifted in their craft and also so easy to work with. I would hire him again in a heartbeat!

Steven was such a great, enthusiastic, and present photographer. He was able to capture all the right moments, provide some great ideas and therefore shots, and keep everyone happy!
