    (2 reviews)

    Whitney I.

Jack is an awesome teacher! I've had 3 guitar lessons so far and have learned so much already. He makes each lesson fun and doable. At our first lesson, he asked me to name a song I'm into right now and the lessons have been structured in a way to get me playing that song while learning fundamentals. I highly recommend taking lessons from him!

Thumbtack Spotlight

Petersen Voice Studio

(13 reviews)

What do you love about your job?

I love that every day presents different challenges and excitement. I get to do what I love every single day by helping people find their voices in song. Each lesson is a discovery as I get to connect people to their deeper selves. To top it off, I get to make music with funny, intelligent, and very heart-centered people every single day. I also love helping singers who have lost their voices through injury or abuse regain their ability. It is truly a rewarding and joyful experience.

Who inspired you to start your own business?

Singing has been my greatest passion in life. I wanted to start my studio because I wanted to share that excitement and joy with every new student and client. I also wanted something that was my own and having a private studio lets me have the control. Because I am so fulfilled every day, I am able to bring my best self to every lesson. I also come from a musical home. My parents worked so very hard to make sure that I had a great musical education and I want to pay that debt back by being the best teacher I can be.

  • Voice, Piano and Drum Lessons with Award-winning Artist

Guneralp Voice and Piano Studio - A Winner of Thumbtack's Best of 2015 & 2016 Awards

    (28 reviews)

Bulent is a dedicated teacher who puts his heart and full attention into his lessons. He truly cares about his students and gives them his time even outside of the lessons. After the first few weeks with him, I could already hear and, most importantly, feel the improvement in my voice. Through his concise explanations on breath control, vocal technique and body alignment, and instructions on how to make certain hand movements to aid the voice through the visualization of air flow or the precise movements of the cricoid cartilage in the larynx, I am quickly learning the correct singing technique. I also find the ear training and music theory aspects of the lessons helpful. Bulent asked me what genres I was interested in singing, and after telling him jazz and opera, he introduced me to some pieces I had never known before. I ended up adoring them, especially Lullaby of Birdland. My repertoire is now getting richer in classical and jazz repertoire, and my cultural knowledge of important jazz and opera singers of the past and present-day is also increasing. I am learning how to interpret pieces from different genres and sing them with the same, natural technique. He has taught me to only place vocal ornaments where they have meaning so as to have an authentic delivery and pure sound. I began lessons with him because I wanted to improve my technique after becoming the vocalist in my college band (I had never sung seriously before), but I would recommend Bulent to anyone at any level of singing because of his patience, warmth, experience, undivided attention and professionalism. Music Elements

    (23 reviews)

My oldest daughter has been with Music Elements for a year and a half and she loves it! She takes voice lessons with Laura; only after a few lessons her voice quality and range improved quite noticeably. Since then my daughter has had many performances, solos and leads in shows. Anita, the owner, is so welcoming and accommodates us with lessons to work around our busy schedules if needed. She answers her e-mails right away and is always pleasant! My second oldest started taking piano with Dan and is thriving with progress every week. The waiting room offers crayons for my younger ones - and coffee/water for adults (which is so nice after a long day). The staff is friendly and the students leave happy! I'm so glad that Anita found me on here and we are thankful to work with such a talented, successful school right here in our home town! Boston and New York quality teaching in Chelmsford, Ma.

I stand out first of all because of the growth and improvement of my past students. Ask them- or watch them on stage! They are inspired also because I do what I teach- and everything with all my heart. I love doing music and passing on my passion and lessons learned. I love seeing my students grow and get excited about their new abilities!

    B. Morash

    (16 reviews)

Barbara is amazing! She is so friendly, warm, and inviting that even for a person as shy as I am it is easy to sing in front of her. She really knows what she is teaching and makes sure that you start with the proper techniques for breathing so you don't hurt your voice in any way. She also makes sure you understand the material or exercises and why you are doing them before you leave to practice on your own. She is motivational and inspiring! After every lesson, I can't wait to go home and practice and then of course, to see what the next lesson holds in store for me! Although I've only had a few lessons thus far, I can say without a doubt, that she is one of the best teachers I have ever had in any subject area, not just singing!!!

Maya is fantastic to work with! I hadn't taken a voice lesson in years and she made me feel completely comfortable and we had a ton of fun. She was also super flexible about scheduling. I was late to our first lesson and she was fine with pushing it forward an hour so I could get there without stressing! Overall it was a fantastic experience and I will continue lessons with her. I highly recommend Maya!

  • Private Piano Lessons

    Peter Moore

    (11 reviews)

Peter has been my daughter's keyboard and voice teacher this past year. She enjoys the lessons immensely and has made more progress this year than she had in the prior four years. Peter's extensive experience as a musician greatly benefits his students, but it is his intelligence and passion for teaching that set him apart. I see it in the thoughtful way he connects with my daughter, striving to understand her sensibilities--not only her abilities--to tailor an effective path for her musical growth. He routinely takes time outside lessons to email detailed practice instructions, which both my daughter and I truly appreciate. I am grateful we found Peter and look forward to continuing to work with him.

    Emily's Voice Studio

    (10 reviews)

Emily has been helping with singing. First with breath support as I did not have a clear feel for what I should be doing. She has a lot of tools for helping one learn a technique; to help you feel it. If one doesn't work, try another. This is very important since you can't just tell someone how to sing; at least not me. As we continue with lessons, Emily is very aware of things that I do that are not benefitial to singing and works to correct them. Not so easy since I'm on the older side and have many ingrained bad habits.

I’m sooo very happy to have found Julie. Singing is like any hobby or skill you pursue, where you can’t see how far you’ve come until a little bit of time has passed. I’m so excited to say that while it didn’t feel like work, or feel like I was “training hard,” my voice has changed for the better! I can’t believe the difference between when I walked in for the first lesson, and where I am now, and it all happened naturally. I love that I can feel confident she is working and training my voice, even at times when I’m there just to have fun and de-stress. As other reviewers said, she is very open to any style and will work with whatever inspires YOU. She is constantly training herself, which means you get the benefit of what she has learned and experienced, as well as what new information she gains from other singers and teachers. — I’m still taking lessons with Julie, and I look forward to more progress and discovery!
