Since 1991, Sofia has taught on the faculty at the world-renowned New England Conservatory, where her students have won numerous awards in state competitions.

Ms Gurfinkel is an extraordinary teacher. I have been taking lessons from her on a weekly basis for half a year now and my violin playing skills have grown tremendously. A little bit about myself, I am 24 years old, and I had been playing violin for two years when I was in middle school, and when I came to Ms Gurfinkel I had been on a hiatus for almost a decade. Ms Gurfinkel was able to see where my skill level was and taylor her teaching to my needs. She will give you challenging piece to practice but within your abilities. She know basically every classic piece so if there is one specific piece that you really want to learn, she can teach you! She is very nice, if you practiced the previous week, haha. If you haven't been practicing enough, she can tell and she will be strict on you, which is a good thing. And by enough practice, I mean generally one to two hours a day, around ten hours per week.
If you want to take your violin playing to the next level, or if you want to start learning violin, come take lessons from Ms Gurfinkel, you won't be disappointed.
