"For the past three years my high school aged son has taken piano lessons from Bulent. In all that time he has been consistently patient, kind, enthusiastic and inspiring. Bulent used every minute to provide the best instruction, correction and encouragement. His love of music is evident as he often shared suggestions and links for video and live performances. His rates are quite reasonable for individual instruction and he is accommodating to scheduling conflicts. I recommend him unreservedly! I have read some of the other positive reviews of Bulent and I can attest to the truthfulness of all of them - there is no exaggeration. Bulent is a remarkable human being and a wonderful teacher." I have been taking voice lessons from Julie Kinscheck for over three years now and am very pleased with her as a teacher. I have a very busy schedule as a manager and she has been very flexible in making the lessons happen. These lessons have built my confidence and inspired me to perform more often because of my growth as a singer. I enjoy singing in the regular student recitals. I appreciate her patience helping me to learn to read music, improve my breath support, tone and more. She also has a good listening ear when I need to talk. She motivates me to want to practice to be my best. I also see she is an excellent role model for her younger students, always willing to expand her own horizons by learning and then teaching them songs which they want to perform. She genuinely cares about her students and takes a personal interest in their lives. You can tell she has a passion for teaching. I highly recommend her!

My 9 year old daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Julie for a year. She has progressed nicely and really enjoys the lessons. The end of the year recital was wonderfully entertaining and a great goal for my daughter to work towards. Julie has been easy to communicate with and I have already recommended her to other mothers.

Jessica has been amazing for me. First off, she has a very pleasant personality---which is always helpful. I contacted Jessica because I have sleep apnea and read that singing lessons could be helpful in building up the throat muscles and developing better breathing. I have also wanted to take voice lessons so it was two birds with one stone for me. I have been taking weekly lessons for about a month now and am already seeing improvement in both my voice and, more importantly, in my sleep quality. Jessica has gone the extra mile for me in finding voice exercises which will assist in my apnea. She has been doing some online researches and has even ordered a book on the subject. She is fun to work with and it is obvious that this is less about money than it is about her passion for music. Her rates are extremely reasonable and she is generous with her time. I look forward to many more lessons with her and cannot recommend her highly enough. Jessica is a true professional. If you have ever thought about voice lessons you cannot go wrong giving her a call.

Jennifer K.

Jessica is incredible! Skilled as a singer and a teacher, but even more important, supportive and encouraging. I'd had one or two Groupon voice lessons but couldn't really sing with those teachers. But with Jessica, I felt comfortable on the very first day. Already after just 3 lessons I've gained enough confidence to sing into a microphone and have been asked to sing harmony on stage with a band! I recommend her very highly to anyone looking to take that leap into singing because she will truly make developing g your potential a personal quest.

Jill C.

Verified review

Very flexible and understanding. Unfortunately, I had outside commitments that left my schedule a bit crazy and unpredictable, and Jessica always accommodate me ... However, I have yet to squeeze in a lesson, but I would highly recommend Jessica on professionalism alone, she's super sweet, excited about people's goals, and was willing to take on my idea for voice lessons, even though they were a little different (for public speaking).

With a deliciously rich, beautifully textured baritone voice and style all his own, Gordon is, without a doubt, one of the most gifted vocalists and entertainers anywhere, and when he takes the stage - and I do mean TAKES the stage - he never fails to captivate and enthrall his audiences. I have personally known, admired and been a fan of Gordon Michaels since coming to Boston in 1997 and, as a professional performer, I have had the great good fortune to work with him professionally on numerous occasions, as well as opportunity to be part of several cabaret shows that he has produced. When it comes to performing and producing, in addition to having more energy and enthusiasm than any one person has a right to have, he is always the consummate professional; consistently clear in his vision, ever focused and totally prepared. As long as I have known him, Gordon has, without fail, devoted a tremendous amount of his personal time and energy to enthusiastically mentoring new, aspiring performers. He does this by providing them with a physically and emotionally safe place to challenge themselves artistically, explore new ideas, and enhance their skills. Then, drawing on the deep well of his own experience and expertise he suggests, encourages and gently guides them to discover their unique voice and understand what their personal strengths are, all while coming from a really positive place that is never critical, threatening or negative. When you add his classical training and technique to the aforementioned list of his qualities, I believe that, given the opportunity, Gordon Michaels will prove to be an outstanding teacher, coach and/or mentor for anyone fortunate enough to have the chance to work with him. When I first met Gordon Michaels he was singing. His voice can fill an auditorium without a mic. He touches each song with love from within and communicates beautifully to the audience as well. Gordon has incrediable personality and the biggest heart for others I know and a beautiful smile. When he smiles the whole room shines and those around him are effected by his smile, glowing personality, musical abilities and his ability to encourage others to share there talents if they are scared or insecure performing. Gordon is constantly watching your back. He supported and nudged me to do my debut. Mr. Michaels did all the necessary work advertising to ensure my attendance for my debut was well attended. Lastly, during holiday season he gathers several of his singing colleagues to perform with him at various venues to collect funds and donates a new toy to children who are less forntunate during Holiday Season. Gordon remains your friend once he becomes part of your life. Not only that, but he shared with me his Mom's family secret how to make chicken taste better! P. Humphreys

I have received vocal lessons from Peter for a little over six months now and he is fantastic. I can honestly say there is marked improvement in my singing. From the day one he focused on making lessons a personalized experience, by focusing on my goals and helping me determine where my strengths lie. Peter is excellent at explaining techniques such as posture and breathing and how each part affects the instrument as a whole. He is an extremely talented singer and multi-instrumentalist with an impressive background that shows through in his performance as well as his teaching. Peter’s positive attitude and passion for music creates a fun and upbeat learning environment. Every lesson is a challenge that keeps me on my toes, but I always go home smiling.

After a few years hiatus, I am taking voice lessons again to relearn proper warm up and singing techniques and build a repertoire, as well as become more comfortable sight reading music. I started taking voice lessons from Peter a couple of months ago and have found his techniques evocative of time-honored theorists - his advice and guidance is thoughtful and individualized to maximize my strengths and locate and address areas of weakness. It is quickly apparent that Peter is an enthusiastic and cultivated musician and experienced teacher, as I have already learned so much!

He introduced me to the basic theories (chord progressions, rhythms, and etc) of jazz and samba and also helped with a composition that I was working on.

Emily has been helping with singing. First with breath support as I did not have a clear feel for what I should be doing. She has a lot of tools for helping one learn a technique; to help you feel it. If one doesn't work, try another. This is very important since you can't just tell someone how to sing; at least not me. As we continue with lessons, Emily is very aware of things that I do that are not benefitial to singing and works to correct them. Not so easy since I'm on the older side and have many ingrained bad habits.

Emil F.

Emily is a creative and skilled teacher that is able to transform singing lessons into a fun experience. Very good at providing individually tailored lessons, she does not burden students with unnecessary structure. Emily connects well with male and female students across all age groups. I can recommend Emily to everyone that is interested in improving/perfecting his/her singing skills.

Emily has outstanding preparation to teach voice. I was her high school and undergraduate voice teacher, so I can attest to her having excellent singing technique herself, to her having undergraduate coursework in the art and science of teaching voice, and to her having considerable knowledge of performing to share with her students.

I am very happy to make a recommendation of Stanley Wilson as a voice teacher. My daughter has been taking weekly lessons with Stanley for over 3 years. Stanley has been an excellent teacher to her. She started from 7th grade when she really loved singing but was too shy to sing. But with coaching, and many practices, rehearsals and recitals, she developed her voice and strong confidence within one semester. Now she sings often, which is what she loves to do and I love to hear. As Stanley's student, she participates in events of A Worcester Schubertiad, a chamber music organization that Stanley leads, which is great for her. I too have been taking lessons with Stanley for over a year. Class time is distributed between techniques and practicing an actual piece. I am learning many techniques that help me improving and enjoying my singing. I like to think that my voice has developed substantially over the year. Stanley's students range from professional singers, to choir members, to recreational singers like myself, from middle school to retirement. While he is an accomplished vocal artist in classical singing and opera, he helps develop vocal techniques for students in diverse singing genres. Because Stanley is flexible in his approach, a new student should feel comfortable starting with him. What should also help is that Stanley is punctual and very professional in managing his teaching schedule. As importantly, his studio is located in an excellent location in Worcester where parking is never an issue. I have benefitted from and enjoyed my learning experience, and I highly recommend Stanley as a vocal teacher.

I studied with Stanley Wilson for many years and because of him I was accepted to one of the world's greatest conservatories, The Eastman School of Music. Mr. Wilson has the exceptional skill of pinpointing exactly where technique could be improved and how to correct the errors. It is because of Mr. Wilson that I won the Hal Leonard Art Song Competition (3rd place), American Prize Competition (3rd place), and Opera Worcester Voice Competition (1st place). He also influenced me to audition for the Tanglewood Festival Choir, the All-National Honors Choir, and Boston University Tanglewood Institute.

At the age of 54 I decided to take up piano after many years of toying with the idea. I had no music bankground and didn't know a staccatto from a fortissimo. My daughter had been taking voice lessons from Lenae and when she had an opening I decided the time had come. I am thrilled that I did. I love playing piano and, although I don't have any particular talent for it, I am very pleased by how far I have come in two years. Lenae has been the perfect teacher. Lessons are relaxed and without pressure, and she moves at a pace that makes sense for me. She is ALWAYS pleasant and supportive.

Bill K.

I have taken voice lessons in the past with other very skilled instructors, but they were unable to help me get over certain hurdles. Lenae's technique has helped me to conquer many of my anxieties and difficulties related to singing. She has a very relaxed style and gives her lessons in a comfortable setting. I began taking lessons with Lenae in early October 2014, and I've noticed vast improvements in my technique in that short amount of time. I plan to continue working with Lenae for a long time to come!

Matt M.

Verified review

My six-year-old son started piano last year with Lenae. He is kind of a squirrelly little guy and I was a bit nervous about him starting lessons, but Lenae does such a great job with him! She manages to keep him on track and make the lessons fun at the same time. He has made great progress and really enjoys piano. He has had multiple opportunities for recital experiences, too. I would highly recommend Lenae.

David has been teaching me guitar for a little over a month now. I have already seen great advances in my technique, rhythm, and understanding of music. I have been playing guitar for 9 years off and on, and I have never had professional lessons. I can say that after a month with David, I am playing better than I ever have and believe that my guitar playing skills will continue to progress rapidly with David's help. His teaching technique is very casual and fun, almost conversational, and his insights are spot on. He is exactly what I hoped for in an instructor when I started looking at guitar lessons and I would highly recommend him for anyone who loves guitar, regardless of their skill level. He is a 'must hire' professional!

Our two sons (a tenor and a bass) took voice lessons with Thomas Fallon while in high school. Tom has a great approach to teaching proper technique and providing a solid understanding of vocal music. Our sons made great strides in becoming confident singers and had a lot of fun doing so. Tom has just a wonderful collection of experiences to drawn on when teaching and an amazing selection of songs to teach from. Our sons' musical backgrounds are so much richer owing to the variety they pursued with Tom -- from broadway showtunes, to opera, to sacred music, and, last but never least, Irish folk songs. Each hour went by quickly and was never a chore. As parents we enjoyed watching their progress and we also appreciated that Tom was always willing to accommodate the crazy schedules of two busy teens. Our connection with Tom has lasted well beyond the days of voice lessons. We continue to enjoy seeing him at local musical performances and events.

Tom and I have known each other for years. Almost two decades actually! We performed together with the NEC production of Midsummer Night's Dream. Tom as Oberon and I as the changeling boy. I believe I was around eight years old. I am now twenty-eight. Later in my growing childhood career I began taking voice lessons with Tom at his home in Arlington, learning all of the intricate details of becoming a professional in musical theatre and opera from vocal range and strength to stage personality. Tom coached me to become the third spirit in Mozart's, The Magic Flute, performed by Boston Lyric Opera. This was my first major role with a professional company. I continued to work and study under Tom for many years, and I continued to perform with well known companies and stars throughout this time. He is a true friend and great teacher who helped me live up to my potential.

"I started Portuguese lessons with Paulo because I wanted a native Portuguese speaker as a teacher. What I got was SO much more. Paulo is very passionate about his language, his teaching, and clearly cares whether the student is understanding and assimilating the lessons presented. His training and career as an Opera singer provides him with flawless and beautiful pronunciation that is literally music to my ears. Because of his voice training he can also hear the slightest deviation in my own pronunciation and accent, allowing me to slowly perfect my own Portuguese pronunciation. The lessons are paced well, not too fast, not too slow, and I can vary the pace as I need to. I've studied several languages before and have never enjoyed the process as much as I do with Paulo. Because Paulo is so personable, I'm laughing while learning my way to fluency!" Rick Oliver

So far I've only taken one lesson with Jen for violin; however, it was very encouraging and I have scheduled future lessons already. She was flexible with me on a time to meet and was quite enthusiastic when I arrived. It took some time to tune my instrument since it's been so long since I last played but she was patient as ever and got it perfect without even needing my digital tuner. The lesson itself went smoothly - she was conscientious of the fact that I have some music background but also no foundation for violin. We did cover some basic things, such as quarter notes and timings, to determine how much music theory I have but it never felt silly. Overall I would recommend trying for sure. :)

I decided to take up the violin again after last having touched one over forty years ago. I have been taking violin lessons with Haley for over six months. She quickly helped me get back some sense of the instrument. She has been patiently taking me through scales, rhythm, tempo, sight reading , and in addition has exposed me to the basics of music theory. I have found her to be welcoming, knowledgeable, friendly, flexible, yet also professional. We go through scale drills, are making our way through basic Hal Leonard books, and even do a little jamming on some rock ballads that she has downloaded for us to play along with. I haven't been practicing as much as I could or should, but Haley is cool with it. It's all been a challenge for me, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. When I progress to a higher level of playing ability, I am certain her high level of violin musicianship and teaching skill will be greatly helpful in allowing me to reach my musical goals. I would highly recommend Haley as a violin teacher for aspiring musicians of all skill levels.
