Cathy helped me take my dog from antisocial to social and playful!
My dog spent two weeks with Jennifer training to be a therapy dog. She instilled in him a strong demeanor and attitude toward his "work". He handles himself as extremely calm, disciplined in his behavior and, yet, he loves his activities as a therapy dog. We bring great joy to many patients and staff. He is totally lovable while at the same time in control of his behavior. He takes his cues from the patients so that he doesn't scare those who are not comfortable with dogs. I couldn't be happier with the outcome.
Peter helped us so much! Our stubborn Frenchie puppy is learning so much every day. We have tried group classes in the past with other dogs but it was so worth it to have the one-on-one attention in our own home. Thank you so much!!!
Theresa was wonderful. I brought my two 9 year olds and she showed them how to work with our puppy and they got great hands on experience. We are definitely going to the puppy classes to get more from Theresa. Thank you!
Lisa was a dream come true. We had rescued a 9 month old dog who had no manners or training. We had him stay with Lisa for two weeks and he is like a new dog. He is so easy to walk on the leash and he sits and stays when commanded to. She is also willing to continue training at our house and go with us on trips out in public. I will continue to use her ongoing. Best thing I have ever done. She also gives many good tips for ongoing training at home.
Sandy is awesome! She has been doing basic obedience training with our dogs and she has given us some great pointers. We recently started having an issue with one of our dogs being aggressive towards children. Sandy has gone above and beyond in trying to help us. We called her after one incident and she actually came right over to our house to talk to us about the situation, which was very reassuring. On another occasion when our dog snapped at a visitor's child, we called Sandy and she came right over to work with our dog and the child together. We have been so impressed with her level of commitment to helping us and our dogs. If you are looking for a caring and thoughtful trainer, we very highly recommend Sandy at The Pawsitive Experience!
She is fantastic with our dog. She loves any dog she works with and our dog gets very excited when she comes to the house to take him out with the rest of the group. Very professional and trustworthy.
I was dogsitting my parent's 12 year old Yorkie, who demonstrated classic signs of fear aggression and was very territorial in the home. When we took him for walks he would bark and snap at other dogs on the path. On his first visit Mike brought treats and notepads for us to take notes, and he stopped our little yorkie's barking in its tracks and demonstrated immense patience. Our dog even bit him on their first meeting, but Mike didn't miss a beat! With his therapy dog Finn we worked through our dog's aggression. Finn was never out of control and was as patient as Mike with our dog. The dog that we currently have compared to the dog that we initially brought to Mike are as different as night and day! We only had four sessions with Mike, but he is able to socialize off-leash with other dogs now (he doesn't play with them, but he's able to just be around them, which is so much better than before). And when we walk him he's now able to greet other dogs without trying to bite them, so we no longer get scared every time we see another dog walking on the street. Lastly, our Yorkie used to drag his feet while walking, trying to sniff every little thing. After our first few meetings with Mike he showed us how to get our dog to walk at a better pace, and to follow us better. Walks that used to take us an hour now take us about 20 minutes! I highly recommend his training! Not only did he drive out early every Saturday, but he also never complained about Davis Square's parking situation.
I have been blessed to work with and learn from the Burrells many times. They are professional, knowledgable, personable, excellent teachers and have the highest standards in dealing with both dogs and their owners. Their are few I would trust to train my dogs, I would send them to the Burrell's without hesitation. Highly recommended for puppy evaluation and selections, training and breed show handling. Also consider their handling classes if you show your own dog. You will be blown away by their kind and professional manner both at the shows and away.
John has an objective eye and vast knowledge for training any and all dog types. He truly understands the relationship between a dog and their owner and during training he provides timely and constructive feedback. John helped both myself and my husband be more aware of our body language and how our mannerisms set the tone with how our dog reacts and empowered us to be the "alpha" dog so to speak in order to have a well balanced dog. Without hesitation we would recommend John as a qualified trainer. Beth and Scott D.
Haven’t started training yet. I hired her for her knowledge and experience in training dogs. So easy to talk to. Answered all my questions.
We used Providence Dog Trainers:Off Leash K9 Training LLC to help us with our dog Eve. Becca our trainer was top notch!! Our dog needed some help with socialization skills as well as general obedience training. You've come to the absolute best dog trainers around!! I would highly recommend them!!!
Blake is wonderful! I took a basic obedience class for my puppy with her. She did an amazing job! She was super patient with me and my puppy. She has a true talent. She loves animals and that love her. Highly recommend!
Excellent is an understatement. This is more than just obedience training. It is insight to the dog/human relationship, from the dogs point of view. I didn't think I could change the behavior of my 4 1/2 year old dog, but I was mistaken. I just needed to stop doing all the wrong things. Don't go elsewhere just to realize you should have made Progressive Canine Dog Training and Behavioral Services your first stop!
I attended college with Amy and watched her excel in all of her classes, including those for her Zoology/Animal Science degree. She has been an avid animal owner, lover, and care taker for the majority of her life. For as long as I have known her, Amy has spent much of her free time working with animals, including, but not limited to, volunteering at animal shelters and therapeutic horseback riding centers. Amy has helped care for a variety of animals including some of my own on my farm - dogs, cats, horses, etc. As a third year Veterinary student, I look forward to working with Amy in the future as a fellow animal care-giver, and would not hesitate at all to refer my clients to her for any of their animal care needs.
Maggs truly cares about the dogs she cares for. She specializes with dogs who have dog socialization issues and trains while she boards, Huge Plus!
I enrolled our 11 week old Bernese puppy in Zen Dog's puppy kindergarten class taught by Nayiri. We had a wonderful experience! Charlie learned his basic manners; sit, stay, walk on a leash, down, leave it, etc. Nayiri's positive reinforcement and praise helped to not only train our pup, but how to make us better owners and trainers as well. The class size was small, I believe there were 5 pups in our class, so each dog got a lot of training as well as socialization. Every class ends with a small packet to take home that recaps the lessons taught that week, so it is a nice resource to look at when you need reminders. I would highly recommend Nayiri's classes at Zen Dog, it really helped us and our pup! We are putting him in the advanced puppy class coming this spring.
Bea has excellent knowledge and a great philosophy on positive reinforcement training. I first attended a puppy kindergarten class over 10 years ago with my puppy German Shepherd. I now am enjoying and continuing to learn about dog behavior and communication with my Shiloh Shepherd by private lessons and socialization classes. It has helped reinforce the bond between my dog and myself and honors my dog's intelligence and needs to learn. Bea is fantastic at her art as a dog behaviorist.
I brought my 6 mo pit mix to Vera's class and for 6 weeks receiving training tips to use in everyday life. Vera helped me solve my individual issues I had with MOCHA as well as give me pointers on dealing with any issues that would arise in the future. I saw MOCHA listen very much to Vera throughout the classes and it was evident she had the dogs attention.
Kathy Austin and Jean McCord are positive both dog and owner. Classes are fun and educational. The facility is large and clean. A great place to build a better relationship with your dog.
