I knew we had some damage on our chimney and that we needed to get it repaired before it starts snowing. Thomas responded quickly and he came by the next day. He checked the chimney and it ended up being that the damage was much worse and it was going to need a lot more work. Something I definitely wasn’t expecting. Thomas took a video so that I could see the damage myself and see what needed to be repaired. I really appreciated it because this showed that he was being straight forward and honest which is very reassuring especially on a big expense job. He also made sure to give us the best price possible. Thomas and his team started very early the next day. They were very professional and they worked almost nonstop despite it being extremely cold that day. Thomas also made sure that I understood what was being done and if something new came up or needed to be changed he always let me know so I could confirm that it was ok with me. They were always punctual and if there was any delay he would let me know. They worked fast but without cutting corners or lowering the quality of their work. Now I feel confident that I don’t have to worry about the chimney for many years but if we have another job for the house I will definitely call Charles River Masonry.

Overall the work on the chimney was great. The follow up has been really challenging. Namely, they left construction debris on our yard and while I reached out to Tom directly on an almost weekly basis and he assured me someone would pick up the debris it still sits in our yard, exactly two months since the chimney repair itself. There was also the promise of an emailed invoice which I haven’t received, and every time I ask for it there is radio silence. Overall the quality of the work was totally fine, which is often enough for a good rating. However the follow up has been far less than ideal. In addition, when I wrote the check for their service I wrote it to Tyrone Berry, not sure who that is or why they wouldn’t accept “Charles River Masonry”? I really wanted to recommend these guys but it has been such a frustrating experience.

Tom and his team were really great to work with. He was super communicative and professional and was able to immediately identify a problem with our chimney that many other contractors had missed and that was causing leaking. We ended up having a lot more work done than I'd originally planned to, but it was well worth it to finally be able to fix a problem that we had had for years and to make our exposed brick look beautiful again. He and his team do a great job.
