FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes. $50 per hour if the student comes to me. $60 / hour for in home lessons (which I only teach within a small radius of where I live). (As with any industry rates will increase eventually periodically to adjust to inflation.)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I prefer having a discussion over the phone (or email) to get to know the customer's requests, singing/playing goals and experiences, and allow the customer to ask me questions, to see if it seems like a good fit, and also to solidify details of schedling 1 first lesson. Upon doing the 1 lesson, if the student enjoys the lesson, the next step is solidifying a subsequent time/date which will work for subsequent lesson(s). I have a few (minimal) policies: 1 cancillation policy and 1 referal policy, and offer at least 1 annual performance/recital opportunity for students. My standard payment expectation is pay per lesson at lesson time (or pay per month if customer prefers). Thanks! I look forward to speaking with you!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I keep in close contact with fellow music teachers and musicians, taking lessons myself periodically. I read about vocal technique, I see live shows, and I attend conferences to better myself as a teacher and performer. I graduated from Berklee College of Music as a vocalist.
