Well, I have only had a couple of lessons with Otis but he is so layed back in his teaching style, I was instantly comfortable. Otis is very patient and encouraging. He has a lot of experience, he has played and written music for many years. He has also had his songs produced as well. He is well known in his community.
I've been taking guitar lessons from Nick Cooper for 7 months. Besides having a great time, I've learned a tremendous amount from Nick and improved my playing greatly. Whenever I'm having an issue, he's has been able to give me the right exercises and instruction to iron my problems out and keep me progressing. His lessons always keep in mind my personal preferences and objectives. I'm particularly excited about his plans for group workshops to involve all of his interested students. Being an older adult with a full-time job, I've been especially appreciative of his efforts to work within my schedule and time constraints. All in all, I look to be studying with Nick for a long time. Cliff Cahall
Bertrand is a fantastic guitar teacher and clearly a very gifted musician. When I decided to get guitar lessons, I was a little overwhelmed by the choices on thumbtack and I checked out another teacher before I went with Bertrand. Even at the outset, he was very helpful in a non-intrusive way, making sure that he's available and eager to teach but allowing one to make one's choice in one's own time. I've been very happy with my choice. I knew nothing about the guitar when I started and can be easily intimidated or frustrated, but I've been pleasantly surprised by how much fun it's been to learn from him. He's always cheerful, positive, encouraging and most of all, he works hard to make it fun for the learner. He mixes music theory with practice drills seamlessly. The 1hr class goes by quickly and I'm surprised to find that I enjoy practicing!
My husband is really enjoying his guitar lessons with Bradley!
Jaime has been a wonderful guitar tutor for me. I had no idea about guitar basics and here I am on track to start playing songs. It has been 2 months since i started class with Jaime and every class has been professional and personalized to my needs. He understood my strengths and corrected my mistakes. He consistently challenged me to move out of my comfort zone while playing. It takes patience to teach and Jaime has got it. He truly added value for the money I paid.
"I have been playing guitar my whole life and Russell showed me there is always more to learn about your own playing! Russell is an incredible and unique guitar teacher. Within' the first half of our first lesson, he had pointed out how I could get better dynamics out of my right hand picking style. He helped me prepare some guitar solos I never thought I'd be able to play. His lessons gave me confidence I needed to tackle some serious gigs:) Guitar playing is fun again! "
Shane is an awesome guitar teacher! He is very laid back, fun, and pays attention to where you are as a student. He pushes you, but also makes sure you're still having fun because he knows that's what it's all about. I highly recommend him as a teacher - and the G4 method is easy to follow. Instead of grabbing your usual beer and a Lyft, spend the cash on guitar lessons you have always wanted to take!
I am so proud of all the great work my good friendGreg Arney has done in creating this awesome website of free guitar lessons. Hub guitar is simply the best material out there. Top notch stuff!
Evan is a fantastic music teacher! I took guitar lessons from him for a year, and was always impressed by his tailored approach to his students, his own playing ability, and his knowledge of music theory. Plus, the lessons were fun and introduced the basics of guitar in a fresh, memorable way. Highly recommended.
I have taken guitar lessons from Alan Donati for a number of years in order to better understand music. Being a weathered rock/blues drummer myself, I can attest that Alan is a very accomplished musician and seasoned music teacher who learned his craft via years of playing in rock, blues and jazz bands as well as attending Berklee as a solid foundation. Alan can teach a number of instruments well such as guitar, bass and piano alongside incorporating music theory with the practical applications. He is very adapt with technology as well as “old school”. I have seen Alan teach many students with great patience with tailored attention to the particular student’s interest. Some veteran musicians can only play well but not teach. However, Alan can obviously do both. And so I am giving Alan an outstanding review and rating.
David has been teaching me guitar for a little over a month now. I have already seen great advances in my technique, rhythm, and understanding of music. I have been playing guitar for 9 years off and on, and I have never had professional lessons. I can say that after a month with David, I am playing better than I ever have and believe that my guitar playing skills will continue to progress rapidly with David's help. His teaching technique is very casual and fun, almost conversational, and his insights are spot on. He is exactly what I hoped for in an instructor when I started looking at guitar lessons and I would highly recommend him for anyone who loves guitar, regardless of their skill level. He is a 'must hire' professional!
I have three guitar lessons with Evan and he has already given me so much great stuff to work on! I had been teaching myself for about six months, but Evan has done so much more for me and shown me so many ways to improve. I am really looking forward to continuing learning from him.
I took lessons from Alex for over a year and really loved how she taught me!
My son took beginner piano lessons from Fiona last year. He is a very sensitive boy and was nervous about learning an instrument for the first time, but Fiona put him at ease right away. She has a sweet and earnest teaching style, and explains new concepts in a way that's welcoming and easy to understand. I know her willingness to teach him whatever music he wanted to learn went a long way towards keeping his attention on the piano and away from the iPad. We always looked forward to our lessons with her!
I had not picked up a guitar since I was nine years old, which is more decades ago than I'd like to admit. After just five lessons have got back all I had forgotten and moved on to playing melody lines and started finger picking. In addition to a long and distinguished track record as a performer as lead guitarist with Beaver Brown and other musical combos, Gary has studied music academically, so is able to teach beginning students like me, break things down to fundamentals and answer all my questions in a comprehensive way. I am studying folk, country and rock, it helps that he performs and can teach everything, acoustic and electric. I could not be more pleased.
I was a complete beginner at 50! John has been excellent at introducing me to guitar so I can play songs right away. After a couple of months, I searched online for what makes a good guitar teacher and John does them all.
Guitar lessons for my grandson, are fun. Lots of community involvement!
Inigo is a great guitar instructor. He is very knowledgeable in multiple guitar styles and great at explaining music theory. He is easy going and encouraging. It is great making music with him!

I teach the foundations of bass guitar through advanced levels. Lessons are designed to fit each student's interests and goals while covering essential topics to help them become accomplished musicians. The most important thing is the enjoyment of the instrument and music (that's why we play!) and that will be fostered through each lesson.
New To Thumbtack
I have over 10 years of experience in guitar playing. I have experience in genres that range from jazz and blues to metal and punk.

I offer private guitar instruction with 13 years of experience. As seen in Improper Bostonian, Jazz Times, Boston Globe, Arizona Republic, and Backbay Courant, this service has been established since 1998 and have been at the same Back Bay location since 2004. Gift certificates are available! My name is Buddy Jones. I'm from Phoenix, AZ. I teach beneficial, practical, and fun musical application of knowledge and skills on the guitar. It is my primary goal with each student to get him/her off on the right foot and have him/her stay on the right track. I have been a professional guitarist for 17 years and a fourth generation musician-educator for over a decade. My degree is in guitar performance from Berklee College of Music. Each person learns differently. The following three things are known as modalities: * Auditory -- by ear or tonal instruction * Kinesthetic -- by feel; learns from physically being shown and a hands-on learner * Visual -- by sight; by fret board position memory and shape You will have access to learn the following: * Jazz * Blues * Rock * Flamenco * Folk * Classical * Seven-String Guitar * Tuning * Charts/Notation * Songwriting * Rhythm * Material Foundation * Accents/Dynamics * Soloing * Self-Assessment Goals * Walking Bass Lines * Phrasing * Daily Dexterity Exercises * Different Approaches * Relative Pitch * Harmony * Physical Techniques * Harmonics * Tapping Techniques * Chord and Scale Structures * Theory! I love to teach and see students grow on the instrument. I find each student's learning style and teach within it. Proudly, I have started students and helped them build a foundation in music that has led many students with scholarships (Berklee, USC, ASU, NYU, UofA, and NAU) for music. You can reach me if you're driving, I'm located in major cross streets -- Marlborough St. and Gloucester St. If you are taking the public transit, I'm three blocks from the Hynes Convention Center and T Stop on the Green Line. There is ample metered parking in front of the brownstone. Reserve your slot; it's first-come first-served, and space is limited.
