Introduction: I use my experience and enjoyment of teaching to connect with my students, helping them explore the styles of music they love and to develop their violin / fiddle playing. I like to connect with students who have a desire to play violin (or fiddle), teaching the techniques to build a beautiful sound and solid technique, for any style of playing they wish to apply it to. I especially working with adults!

I take weekly violin lessons. I am a newcomer to playing the violin, starting at age 65. After playing for a few years, I wanted a teacher who could help me with my sound. I heard Lynn Newdome play at an open house and was impressed with her tone. So I started lessons with her a year ago. She teaches children as young as 5 years old and adults as old as me (now 71). Her ability to teach all aspects of mechanics is impressive and my sound quality now is much better than it was a year ago when I started lessons with her. Lynn also offers the opportunity (it is optional) to play at a yearly recital in the spring and also twice a year all of her students play at a older adult facility. So we can learn a wide range of genres - requiring more knowledge of how to play the instrument. All this makes it all the more interesting as she encourages her students to play the type of music that appeals to them. I cannot recommend Lynn more highly.

Lynn is an amazing violin teacher. She has taught our daughter for over five years: from grade school through to high school. Lynn also successfully teaches adults. Lynn really seems comfortable with all ages. She is flexible regarding music selection and encourages her students to pick the music that interests them. She expects her students to do their work (practice) but her years of teaching have given her insight into how to effectively help her students stay on track, whether its stickers for younger students or conversations with older students. Somehow, with all age groups, she manages to be encouraging even while pointing out areas that require growth. Lynn clearly loves the violin and wants to pass on that passion to her students. I am so glad we found her. Our daughter loves playing the violin. Despite the competing pressures of school and extra curriculars, she has no desire to give it up. I think our daughter's attitude is in large part due to Lynn.

Lynn is a very accomplished teacher who gets you right into good fundamentals to improve your tone while playing. She is very attentive in focusing on your goals - what a pleasure she is to work with!

Students take weekly lessons: $50/1 hr., $40/45 minutes, $28/half hour.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free first session to meet and understand a prospective student's goals, and see whether I can help him or her toward these.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I starting learning violin at age 4 from my mother, a fabulous violin teacher, and have a Master of Music Degree from Boston University.
