Green Pine Construction, Inc.
About this pro
Last year we planned to remodel our very outdated kitchen. After getting a few estimates we chose Claudinei Moreira and his company Greenpine Construction. He impressed us with his knowledge, his apparent ability to do the job and to do it well. Things went well at first. His guys were on the job when they said they would be there and at first the work was top notch, that is until the kitchen cabinets arrived. Claudinei had a carpenter's apprentice who had never installed cabinets before (we found this out afterwards) to install $12K worth of cabinets which took 10 weeks to build. This apprentice promptly destroyed about $3K worth of those cabinets which then had to be reordered. Things went downhill very quickly from here. Work wasn't done when it was supposed to be done, the quality of the work went downhill but Claudinei still insisted on being paid. Eventually the kitchen was completed. It took 12 weeks compared to the 5 weeks it was supposed to take. Jump forward a few months after the kitchen is completed. The tile floor starts cracking and the tiles come loose. I try to get a hold of Claudinei but he doesn't answer or return my calls, texts or emails. I finally get a hold of him in March of this year and he says he will fix the tiles. He continually says he will be at the house the following day but never shows up. Now he has gone radio silent. I have had multiple contractors come to the house to take a look at the tiles and they have all said the floor was installed improperly and the only way to fix the loose tiles and cracking grout is to pull up the floor completely and put down a new subfloor with new tiles. Basically we need to spend a few thousand dollars to fix what we paid Claudinei to do. Do you self a favor and stay away from Greenpine Construction.Jun 15, 2018Verified
**UPDATE** We finally heard from Claudinei in October, when he came (with his mason) to inspect the patio and figure out why there were so many holes between the stones. Their assessment: They did the work perfectly. We just have too many ants in our yard. Nothing they can do except maybe apply more grout. The assessment of 4 OTHER masons: Claudinei's team didn't compact the earth properly, and very likely didn't dig deep enough. In short, there are holes because the ground isn't level. The number of ants never came up. We'll be redoing this work (in the spring, unfortunately, since the ground is now frozen) with another mason, who seems highly competent. And we'll present our case in Small Claims Court soon after. I had high hopes for Claudinei and his team. But unfortunately, they not only didn't do the work properly, they didn't seem to care. ***ORIGINAL REVIEW*** We were initially pleased with Claudinei's (and his crew's) work rebuilding our patio (steps and stonework). I thought he was professional, relatively honest, and, most importantly, responsive, and the crew seemed capable, courteous, and hard-working. We needed this project completed before our daughter's 1st birthday party, and they delivered. The problem lies in the finish. The polymeric sand that was applied as a last step is supposed to keep plants from growing beneath and coming up through the cracks. But it seems to have been applied inconsistently and poorly. See photos -- The spaces just seem to be getting larger with time, and it's a concern. Unfortunately, despite this line in the contract -- "The Contractor warranty materials used, workmanship, and job perform for 10 years!" -- Claudinei has ignored our Thumbtack messages, e-mails, text messages, and phone calls. And this has tainted our overall view of the project and the people involved. Thus, the 2 stars. So, my advice to other Thumbtack users: Beware of the 10-year guarantee, when a 2-week guarantee doesn't even hold up. (From the time of our initial message about the problem until now, it's been 2 months.)Dec 22, 2017Verified
