"We have been coming to Peaceful paths for almost 5 years now. We get treated very professionally, feel pampered and relaxed and get the best massage we could ask for. The new salon in Palmer is absolutely beautiful! We not only feel like we are a client but have gained a friendship with everyone there. Hands down best place around!"

"Tony is great. I have had regular sessions (roughly every 3 weeks) with Tony for at least a couple of years now. I originally went for problems I was having with my lower back, and I am glad I did. After a couple of sessions, my back started feeling better and better, and now I go to Tony for preventative maintenance. I have to say, although I initially went for back issues, I now enjoy going to Tony as much for stress relief and overall muscle relaxation. His sessions never seem to be the same thing twice, and he is great at asking questions to determine if there are areas he needs to focus on in any particular session. I have had occasional problems with my neck, legs and feet - either from change up of workout routines or just having had an accident - and he has targeted those areas and I always walk out feeling GREAT. His massage area is very comforting, and the music/soundtracks are deeply relaxing. It also helps that Tony is a genuinely nice person, and a very easy person to talk to. Sessions with Tony can be transformative and I highly recommend giving him a try!!! "

"I would definitely recommend Patrick to others for his outstanding body work sessions. I was feeling burned out as a pediatric nurse and needed stress relief. He absolutely made me feel relaxed with his knowledge of performing body work on me. He is very easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. I left his office feeling at ease with myself and most of all...relaxed!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
