Introduction: I am a certified professional dog/cat trainer for over 18 years. I will partner with you to show you how to navigate the potential challenges of life with your dog/cat by bringing out the best in them. I have owned numerous dog and at present have a Doberman named Nitro. I also have 3 cats that I have had since 2 weeks of age that I fostered from local shelters. My job is to help you make your pet a great member of your household. Our animals are God's creation and each one deserves to be loved and trained. I am skilled in identifying and managing problem behaviors using positive reinforcement methods. I am experienced in developing and leading group dog training classes. I have been mentoring with Susan Garrett a renowned world dog trainer. Whether you have a puppy, challenging adolescent, a newly adopted dog or cat or a dog or cat with behaviors that you would like changed, I am here to help. I also teach scent training as well as tricks. It is important to keep your dog or cat stimulated by using their mind also. I am not qualified to teach therapy dogs and I do not board dogs. It is my privilege to help you and your pet.

Working with Wilma has been an amazing experience so far! We are still continuing our training as we can tell she really cares about what she does, not only is she training our dog but she is teaching my fiancé and I how to be our own at home dog trainers! The knowledge she has given us and the changes we have seen in just a few short weeks have been amazing! She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her work, she goes above and beyond and even checks in on our pup when she can’t be around. She is extremely responsive and has made some huge changes with our little guy in such a short time. We appreciate all of her work and can’t wait to learn more to be the best doggie parents for our little guy!

We have been working with this trainer for a month now and the value they offer not only for training with our puppy but also with teaching us the skills necessary to train effectively is priceless. We believe we are setting our family up for a remarkable future with our puppy that will grow into a well behaved member of our family. We are thankful to be able to work with HappypawsNTails because she is so sweet, so positive and affirming, and I can see through my pup’s behavior that this trainer already has her attention and respect. Which in turn, as long as my family and I are willing to put in the work, I know we will have the same attention and respect that is needed to achieve a well behaved dog. Wilma is very professional and has a lot of experience with dog training. Before our first visit she gave me great advice to help me keep him safe at night and we actually slept. Gave us great exercises to work on that I found very helpful and look forward to more training sessions. If anyone needs help training their dog I would highly recommend her.

We are first time dog owners and Wilma has helped us tremendously working with our new puppy. She breaks down the training sessions into easy, manageable tasks, so that both us and the puppy will feel successful and not frustrated. This has made our new puppy experience wonderful. She comes to the sessions well prepared to help us with our questions and challenges. She also demonstrates a true passion for her work and love of animals. I would highly recommend her if you are seeking help in training and obedience.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge lower than most pros because I want to make sure the dog stays with their family. The only time I charge more if I have to travel a long ways or if there is more than one dog.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to ask the clients to write down from most important to least what they would like to accomplish. Discuss the goals and start a plan to make it happen.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to the Animal Behavior College and am certified for dogs as well as cats. I have also gone to many classes on how to work with dogs and cats that are shy, aggressive, have chewing issues, toy or food possession issues, etc and have obtained certifications for these as well. I also am qualified to do scent training and have learned from my previous mentors to do trick classes. I do not train for therapy dogs and I do not board animals.
