Introduction: As a teacher I understand what it's like not to "get it" the first time. Not all of us are Mendelssohn or Bach. Also, I understand the problems involved for the late starter or the adult who had lessons years ago and now would like to try it again. Patience and love are the key elements to my approach to teaching. But, I also expect my students to work honestly and diligently no matter how difficult the task seems to be. Watching the face light up when even the smallest detail is perceived and the sense of understanding, the revelation as it were, occurs. And when that stumbling block is finally hurdled and you share that feeling of accomplishment with your student.
