Introduction: Hi! My name is Gregory Lyons, and I have a strong background in classical music and jazz as well as a great deal of experience with liturgical music and popular music. I've studied piano privately since the age of 4, at The McClosky Studios, the New England Conservatory, and I have a degree in piano performance from The Berklee College of Music. I've also studied pipe organ and liturgical music at Boston University and Salve Regina University. I've taught music full time at prominent schools in Chestnut Hill and Brookline, as well as teaching and directing music for the Creative Arts at Park summer program at the Park School in Brookline for many years. I've been Music Director and Organist at several churches in Boston and the surrounding areas as well. I greatly enjoy teaching piano and music theory across ages and experience levels -- child to adult, beginner to advanced. I'm located in Jamaica Plain Center just one block from The Monument, and I also travel to the homes of students in Boston, Brookline, and surrounding areas. We hired Greg to come into our home to teach our 12 year old son piano and guitar lessons. His knowledge of music is astounding! He has brought interesting and challenging pieces of music to learn from rather than going through the traditional simple piano books which my son has found rewarding. Greg has a fun personality to match his love of all things music.

Greg is a wonderful piano teacher. He's very knowledgeable, patient, and makes learning to play piano fun. He can explain complex theories in a way that's easy to understand and his expertise is impressive. I highly recommend Greg's services as a piano teacher.

Greg has been awesome! He is always on time for lessons and has a great sense of humor that can light up the atmosphere. He is dedicated and understanding about my particular situation. He also wants to get to know me as a person and not just like coming to teach and go like other instructors might. One of the things I appreciate about him the most is his willingness to stay later than he has to in order to help me finish a piece/pieces that we have been working on. I really enjoy my lessons with Greg. Highly recommended!!
