Introduction: Attention to detail. Communicating with the subject to be photographed, both before and during the session. Never taking shortcuts that lower the quality of the finished image. Most do not understand the equipment, work and planning that goes into a successful photo session, I do. After over four decades working for individuals, corporations and consumer magazines around the world I am looking for people who want exceptional images. I am a location photographer and I bring extensive equipment along to most sessions. It takes 30 minutes for me to setup a complete studio on location with backgrounds if requested. I started out reporting local stories and taking photos for a medium size daily newspaper in Washington State, then for three decades worked on assignment for the major consumer magazines in the U.S. and Europe photographing national and international stories. I have also done the major photography for Fortune 500 companies annual reports, advertising and corporate collateral print campaigns. Articles about my work have been published in U.S. and European trade magazines. The opening two pages of a six page story about me from the BRITISH JOURNAL OF PHOTOGRAPHY is included in my Thumbtack portfolio. Images have been a major force in my life for as long as I can remember. Making still images is something I take great pleasure in. Now that I am mostly working directly with the client making portraits I communicate with the client to draw them into the image, making it a collaboration and in the end something that both the client and I am proud to have been part of. As of 5/2020 and due to the current situation with COVID-19, my travel to clients is limited. I also require anyone interested in working with me contact me directly.

Chuck is amazing to work with. He brings impressive, vast experience, and knowledge to his work. He easy to talk to and flexible around scheduling. His work is meticulous and the end product is superb. Chuck photographed a good deal of my paintings for both web and giclee pursuits. He provided top quality digital formats, technical advice for the formats, and professional guidance. With no hesitation I recommend Chuck Nacke.

Working with Chuck was just fantastic. He was quick to respond to questions, very open and easy to work with. His photography was done professionally, and the results were a week earlier than I even anticipated. Am absolutely going to work with him again.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

There are too many variables to have a set price. I usually ask the client what budget they have in mind, get the details of the job and then make a decision about whether I can do the work the client wants for the price the client wants to pay. I am never the least expensive photographer, but I am often the most experienced and best equipped.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

As I’'ve written previously, communication is the key.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Graduate work in Journalism, Western Washington University and University of Washington.
