Storm Works Roofing replaced our asphalt shingle roof, replaced trim, and installed new gutters. They worked with us to use specific materials and allowed us to paint trim boards prior to installation. There were a few hiccups on the journey, but they worked to ensure all was completed to satisfaction and in a timely manner.

Erik Kortz and his company are a pleasure to work with. His crew is talented, professional and efficient. Erik is like no other contractor: he listens, provides input and effectively creates solutions. I am pleased to continue my professional relationship with Erik. Too often people comment on public Internet forums with negative commentary. Few take the time to share positive experiences, but with Erik and Stella Home Services: I sincerely can share that I will never hire anyone else but them. Whether it be for something small like furniture construction or elaborate like an entire remodeling. I've hired Erik personally and my company employed him to remodel our entire cafe. This included interior and exterior work, roofing and masonry. I fully endorse Erik.

Mike was very responsive and was deliberate to give me a fully broken down quote prior to starting the work. He accommodated my request to start the project as soon as possible. I hired Mike for a roofing repair project, and his work was very thorough and professionally done. I plan to contact Mike for future work.

We were very impressed with Fredy and his crew and the end result was fantastic. They were very professional and capable experts who were honest and trustworthy. Fredy kept us well informed during the project. He brought in a team of experts for different aspects of the job, such as engineering, carpentry and rubber roofing. The cost was very reasonable, the work was first-rate, and the results were guaranteed for many yrs. They cleaned the work area afterward and it was immaculate when they left. I would give Global my highest recommendation to all of my friends and associates.

Michaels team came to strip out our curled up roof shingles and install new ones for the whole roof. They came in early and in a flash everything was done and clean. Will definitely recommend base on quality and value (his quote was 20% lower than the average we got for the same job with similar specs). Thanks for the job Mike, will hire again.

My original project was replacement of cedar shingles, but when I found their workmanship was first rate I added on several other projects. They responded to my requests and answered all of my questions. It was costly but my supplies were expensive and the job was well done.

We knew from the first time we met Jeff he was the contractor we wanted to get the job done. From the first time we met Jeff to get a quote about our roof he was nothing but honest, and very detailed about exactly what he would be doing to get our roof back to brand new. Him And his crew showed up at exactly 7:00 sharp yesterday to start on our roof. They were extremely organized, professional, and honest. Anytime we had questions along the way they didn’t stop to hesitate and answer them for us and always kept our best interest at heart when it came to getting our roof done right. We have had some horror story experiences in the past when it came to hiring other contractors for home improvement work. But JPV Roofing turned that right around for us in so many ways. If you are in need of a new roof, please take the tome to give Jeff a call. I promise you he will not disappoint and you will definitely be choosing him for all your roofing needs!

Due to damage sustained removing ice dams, our entire roof had to be replaced. Even with substantial ares of an unexpected four layers of roof shingles, Kevin kept to his word and kept us informed every step of he way. He maintained his price, did the job professionally, quickly and cleaned up after. His workers were awesome. We hope to work with Boston Restorations again in the future.

We needed a replacement shingle roof, and also wanted soffit vents placed and gutter guards installed. Romulo and his crew did an excellent job with all of the tasks...they were quick, efficient, and relatively quiet, the work site was cleaned thoroughly, and the finished product looked great. In addition, Laryssa in the front office was extremely helpful through the entire process. If you are looking for a roofer, hire this company!

My home's asphalt shingle roof required a total replacement related to storm damage that occurred in October of 2017. Marine Home Improvement agreed to do the work based on my insurance company's estimate and their review of the project. There was an overwhelming amount of paperwork required because my mortgage company was involved; wanting to insure the home's roof would be restored as required to protect "their interest". Michel Trankels as the owner of Marine Home Improvement worked tirelessly with me getting through all the "red tape" in order to satisfy the documentation requirements. By the time the paperwork was completed winter had arrived in Maine with a vengeance. So it was not until May of this year that the project could begin. Michel was ready and had his crew on site when promised while calling ahead to inform me of material deliveries. They had a challenging job as areas of the roof had some of the old wooden shake shingles under asphalt shingles but, they cleaned everything up and re-sheathed the roof with new plywood. Ice and water shield along with Rhino Synthetic underlayment was applied to the new plywood along with other quality products required, prior to the new GAF Timberline Architectural shingles. Additionally, all materials and labor included an excellent warranty. The crew was professional, courteous and did an excellent job. I continue to get compliments on how nice my new roof looks from folks in town. Thank you Marine Home Improvement! Less

Dermot and his helper Fabian have fixed a complicated water problem in my cellar and refinished my basement. He also has replaced windows, helped me with ice dams and drainage from clogged gutters and supervised the installation of a new roof. Dermot thinks carefully about each project and comes up with good solutions. I highly recommend Dermot as a contractor.

I strongly suggest to any home owner in the market for new gutters, siding or roofing service that they first contact Roy at TCT Contractors. Roy is well spoken, highly educated, and well versed in residential and commercial contracting services. As a business, TCT's no money down policy is a kind of insurance policy in the interest of both the homeowner and TCT Contractors. These professionals pride themselves on providing quality workmanship and exceptional service and they don't require payment until the job is completed to their expertise and your satisfaction. Great business - Will work with them again.

Chris has worked on my "flat" roof several times -- it is rolled rubber now (formerly asphalt which continuously failed) because of him and his Dad determining rubber to be the best solution to the continuous leaking I had my family had experienced since 1947 when the house was built. The roof he and his Dad installed (SW Debbs LLC) is protecting my 1947 "modern" house with a roof that looks flat but is efficiently pitched. The roof on this house always presented problems with its asphalt coating used over decades -- major leaks and interior damage had consistently occurred. Chris and his father installed rolled rubber to remedy the situation. They also discovered through close examination that some seepage was occurring via eroded concrete on a decorative parapet. They applied material that stopped this water seepage efficiently. What a relief to find someone who would not walk away from a challenge -- someone who stuck with the problem until it was solved satisfactorily! Rare! Most recently Chris and his Dad repaired a portion of the "flat" roof that had been installed (before I met them) by another contractor. They adjusted the slight pitch of that portion of the roof to channel the run-off efficiently, installed insulation which had not been done previously, and re-installed rolled rubber properly. Again, a long-standing problem was diagnosed and solved at a reasonable cost. Chris is efficient, on time, focused, friendly, and totally reliable. He gets the job done at a reasonable price. I am currently renovating a colonial house from the 1790s, and I intend to have the roof rebuilt and replaced by Chris' company. I know him to be honest, hard-working, dependable, and determined to solve problems and produce robust results. I offer my highest recommendation!

    About

I think our work stands out from others because we have two installers that have been roofing for 27yrs togather so we know how to do things right the first time. Also we hand nail because we used roofing guns in the past and the caused us problems, blown off shingles.shingles sliding out of place after a hot summer. So we hand nail a hammer always leaves a nail flat on the roofing shingles.Roofing guns can set to deep in warm weather and crack around the nail head from the air presure in the colder months. And all you need is some good wind in either case and they'll(shingles) will be blowning off.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

    • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
      • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
    • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
    • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
    • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
    • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
