We were so very pleased with Mike's work. He filmed a funeral service for a dear friend with less than 24 hour notice. The film is high quality and captures the event perfectly. He is prompt and professional, and also quick to respond on email and phone. He was unobtrusive at the service. We are grateful to have found Mike to capture this moment for us.

This job was about as unsexy as it gets, filming groups of people literally talking about paint drying. But David and his team were incredibly professional, a pleasure to work with, and they got the job done. We got some great footage that will go a long way towards the end product, and for that we're appreciative. We will definitely hold on to RE Media Service's contact info for our next project in Boston.

Gotta say, Dante and his team hit it out of the park for us! I received 5 quotes, but this being my first time hiring a video production team, and never having used Thumbtack before, I had a lot of questions. Four of the companies who submitted quotes became less and less responsive - not Dante. He responded quickly, thoroughly, with enthusiasm each and every time. Dante was the most expensive, but worth every penny. Not kidding. He had a team of 5 onsite at 5:45am in Boston on a weekend, and when the helicopter rig we were filming was cancelled due to high wind and had to be rescheduled for Sunday, Dante was able to get everyone on the team there again. Trust me, getting up at 4am is harder on the second day! Professional, talented, enthusiastic - each and every team member. We had a lot on our minds during the shoot, Dante just got it done, interviewed people when we hadn't even thought of doing that, took the ball and ran with it. Then, on Monday he sent us a draft video done to review! Dante worked through 6-7 revisions with me, and thanked ME for the continued feedback … the final product is terrific - just what we had hoped for - and we know he is on board for any additional versions or edits we need over the next couple of months. Dante is hard working, creative and just an all round nice guy. I recommend him without reservation.

I’m so glad we hired Matt to film our wedding! I originally thought we only needed a photographer, but realized that having video would capture the day in a different way than photos can. And Matt did just that! Very friendly, responsive, and easygoing, not to mention affordable. Matt arrived on time and stayed as long as we wanted him to. The final product was a wonderful reminder of all the little moments throughout the day that you might otherwise forget. Would definitely hire Matt again!

We thought that Jim Nogueria was a great wedding videographer! We found out about Jim's videography services through this website, Thumbtack. We were very satisfied with the overall quality of our wedding movie. We thought that the video captured all of the high points of our wedding, which included the key parts of the ceremony and reception. Although Jim was filming for 8-9 hours, the final edited wedding video was around 1.5 hours and included DVD chapters so we could navigate with ease to a certain part of the wedding movie. I had thought that Jim would have filmed the ceremony in its entirety, but he didn't include some of the standard Sunday mass aspects, like setting of the table, communion, etc. or the entire duration of the receiving line at the end of the ceremony. This was not a problem for us, but you just want to make sure the expectations are set and that you are both on the same page to avoid any disappointments at the end. Prior to hiring Jim as our wedding videographer, we liked how he was very responsive to the emails I sent him with my questions and how thorough he was with explaining the entire process. We actually never met face to face with Jim prior to the wedding, but felt that phone calls and emails were sufficient. We also liked how Jim, at the time of booking him which was almost 1.5 years ago, was one of the very few videographers in our area that was offering filming in 4K, which is the current and highest standard for video resolution. Jim always made sure that I was happy and completely satisfied with his services, including after he provided the finished product. In addition to the wedding video which he provided in the Blu-Ray disc format, at my request, he also provided me with the final wedding video/trailer video files, as well as all of the raw video footage which was not in the final wedding file. He sent me an external hard drive which I then I copied the files to my computer for backup purposes. Overall, we were very happy that we decided to hire a wedding videographer because the wedding video will be something that we will cherish forever.

What makes Shayna a great filmmaker is her ability to empathize and truly have an attachment to people's moments. Anyone can film an event...but it takes someone with a true love and care for people, to capture the moments that matter. She filmed my wedding and when I watch it to this day, I still cry. The music she chose, the little details I would've never thought to mention or capture, she got them. She's one of the most genuine and passionate people I know, with a truly artistic eye. I promise you'll be thrilled with the end result of her work.

I hired Fumetti Media to develop, film, and edit the video for my startup’s crowdfunding campaign. The video was by far the most critical and impressive aspect of my campaign page. It showed everyone, including my initial customers, that I take my business seriously. I was blown away by the professionalism and expertise of the Fumetti team, as well as the quality of the finished product. I would highly recommend their services for any business seeking world class videography!

      About

Our niche and focus is the ability to use real documentary techniques for commercial video storytelling. We anticipate and understand how to capture and use unscripted moments. It’s something we do well having developed this "muscle" working as photojournalists and documentary photographers for leading publications. Today, what’s lacking in most video storytelling is the skill to capture true, key moments. By using a real, documentary approach, we elevate our client's message in a way that tightly-scripted content does not. Moreover, these true moments connect sincerely with the viewer. That's the driving difference with our visual work.

      About

We are a full-service entertainment company that is specializing in film, music videos, corporate videos, commercials, and live events (theatrical, festival and broad-based performance). Our collective crew has over 20 years of experience in the following: * Production Management * Production Coordination * Stage Management * Line Producing * Unit Production Management * Location Management and Scouting

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

      • Package 1: $1,400
        • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
        • Two cameras with audio equipment.
        • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
        • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
      • Package 2: $1,800
        • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
