FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing is always the hard part of any video project, the more you describe what you have and what you are trying to do with it the better. In judging what a project will cost, I need to estimate how many hours of time I will be spending on it. So the more you can describe the kind of footage you have or what you are trying to capture the better. The more I know about your project, not just the amount of minutes of footage and amount of minutes for final product the more accurate I can quote. In my area of New England I will charge approx $100 an hour for Video Editing & about the same for Videography but with a minimum of 4 hours.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For Video editing it would be after receiving your clips via my upload site hightail or your upload software, a meeting via phone or FaceTime to discuss what the style and approach would be. A "script" can be developed by you and I, like an outline of what you would like to include and what order you want it to be in. That's how I create the version 1 "rough cut" for you to see and then after you review that, we can work through any changes you might have or I might suggest to create a version 2 "fine cut". Then at that point we should be liking what we have and only have minor changes "tweaks" to end up with a version 3 "final cut". then that is exported by me and uploaded to you for you to keep and archive. For Videography it would be a meeting via phone or FaceTime to discuss your project and set times and dates and approach. Then emails back and forth prior to date, to fine tune any logistics or needs. Then shoot day is me arriving on time at the place we set and capturing all the items you wanted to capture. I have also done speaker interviews where you could be on speaker or FaceTime to interview subject from your location while I record. Then it is getting your footage to you, typically I would make a copy on SD card or USB stick and ship the large video files, or we can upload shorter video clips to you for download.
