"We have been coming to Peaceful paths for almost 5 years now. We get treated very professionally, feel pampered and relaxed and get the best massage we could ask for. The new salon in Palmer is absolutely beautiful! We not only feel like we are a client but have gained a friendship with everyone there. Hands down best place around!"

"My husband and I had the pleasure of having Mark travel to our home for massages this past week. Mark was right on time, and gave a great massage! I could tell right away Mark was very knowledgeable in his craft. He held all the stretching positions long enough for the muscles to actually respond, he knew where he was on each muscle and knot. As a LMT myself, and a receiver of many other therapists’ work I have to say Mark ranks right up there in his knowledge and performance. I highly recommend Mark for your next massage!!!!"

"I met Kristin in 2007 and have had the pleasure of MANY massages, energy work sessions and visits from loved ones through her. My husband has also been seeing her since 2007. Both of us can't speak highly enough of her. Our only regret is that she moved so far away that we can't see her once a week like we did for years. We still see her, it's just a longer ride to get there! I'll talk about my experiences with Kristin. The first time I told her my problem areas where I hold tension, I never had to tell her again, she knows. She also tends to migrate to areas that are bothersome that I have not told her about that day. During one of my first massage sessions with her, she said something along the lines of "I'm sorry, but I have someone who wants me to tell you words that don't make any sense to me". In my previous sessions nothing like this ever happened. I wasn't aware of her physic abilities. Kristin said "stairs and spaghetti and meatballs". I was shocked! There was no way Kristin could have come up with this out of the clear blue. My dog Eddie had died in 2005. The last full year of his life he would only eat my home made spaghetti and meatballs. I fed him on the bottom step of the flight going upstairs. He was very old and couldn't put his head down to the floor to eat! So Eddie came to me through Kristin, I couldn't have been happier! Also, my nephew, who had taken his own young life, came through on his birthday a few years after his death. Kristin could never had known it was his birthday yet she said "it's someone's birthday, I see lots of balloons and heart shapes". The most intense energy work I felt from Kristin was actually physical. I was having a rough time regarding my health, something was wrong but I didn't want to deal with it. I was laying on the massage bed on my back, sheet over me. Kristin rested her hand between my breasts and moved her other hand to different energy spots. I could feel this, I was getting dizzy while laying there. Ringing, vibrating...hard to explain but I felt different. She asked if I was having stomach problems, I kind of was, but it was just a symptom. At end of session the sheet between my breasts where her resting hand was...was soaking wet! Turns out I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes very shortly after that session. How could any of this happen? I have had many energy sessions since then, the sheet is always dry. SHE is why I went to the Dr. Even though the sheet is dry, I still feel the vibrations and spinning when having energy work. To say Kristin has helped me is just too simple. I have learned so much from her. I like to think I was one with the world prior to meeting her, but now I know that I knew and felt very little prior to Kristin. Just meet her, you will feel it. I can't describe it, I don't have the words to describe the floating feeling when leaving her presence after a session. She heals mind, body and soul. "

"I would definitely recommend Patrick to others for his outstanding body work sessions. I was feeling burned out as a pediatric nurse and needed stress relief. He absolutely made me feel relaxed with his knowledge of performing body work on me. He is very easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. I left his office feeling at ease with myself and most of all...relaxed!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
