I recently signed up for piano and voice lessons with Julian and couldn't be happier with my experience so far. Julian is kind, patient and extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
I have taken guitar lessons from Alan Donati for a number of years in order to better understand music. Being a weathered rock/blues drummer myself, I can attest that Alan is a very accomplished musician and seasoned music teacher who learned his craft via years of playing in rock, blues and jazz bands as well as attending Berklee as a solid foundation. Alan can teach a number of instruments well such as guitar, bass and piano alongside incorporating music theory with the practical applications. He is very adapt with technology as well as “old school”. I have seen Alan teach many students with great patience with tailored attention to the particular student’s interest. Some veteran musicians can only play well but not teach. However, Alan can obviously do both. And so I am giving Alan an outstanding review and rating.
I have a 7 years old girl who plays the violin and she has been taking violin lesson with Angel for 2 years. Absolutely, she LOVES the lesson with him. His professionalism and experience with kids make the lesson so valuable. I can see when my daughter plays the violin, her sound, tone quality and even posture improved so much. I strongly recommend him if you are thinking of the lesson for your children. As far as I know, he is the BEST teacher and musician!! plus, he is always on time for the lesson.
As an adult student, I have been taking mandolin and guitar lessons from Steve for about two years. I would recommend him unquestionably to any prospective student looking to take music lessons. Steve is a down-to-earth instructor who is not only eager to help his students learn but demonstrably excellent at playing and teaching the instruments he teaches. Steve has introduced me to a variety of music from a theory viewpoint, but is eager to help his students define their own path, reflective of their particular musical tastes. Ive played an array of bluegrass, jazz, blues, and classical music with Steve. Not only has my playing dramatically improved, but my appreciation for the music has improved exponentially. Ive learned how to diatoni cally examine songs, understand rhythm signatures, identify different scales, solo, and perhaps most importantly, how to practice properly. Whether youre just looking to play your favorite song, or become a lifelong student of your instrument, Steve is definitely the guy to help you along the path of musical discovery.
At over 60, taking violin lessons for the first time could have been painful. Laura makes sure that it isn't. I love learning from her. She is a gifted teacher and talented musician who knows how to adjust lessons to the individual student and encourage without lecturing. I highly recommmend her for either performance or instruction...for any aged student!
Working with Janna has been such a wonderful experience, my son also started coming for lessons. I could not have asked for a better instructor or studio.
Maggie has been our daughter, Samantha’s, violin teacher since she was in pre-kindergarten and now Samantha is entering 5th grade. So we have worked with Maggie for approximately the past 5 years and absolutely adore her. We find her extremely professional. She is always on time for lessons, communicates well with both students and parents and provides both constructive criticism and praise when appropriate. She can be firm with the kids when necessary but also makes learning an instrument fun through in lesson games and group play/ensemble and suggestions for young children like reward charts. She wants to challenge the kids by having them learn new pieces and learn how to read music and makes helpful suggestions when appropriate, such as Suzuki camp and orchestra. She strives for excellence in each player and has high expectations. Our daughter responds well to her encouragement. Maggie also goes above and beyond. For example, when our daughter entered a talent show at school Maggie helped her learn the piece to get ready for the show. As a parent of three children, I appreciate Maggie’s flexibility and openness to discussion when we have had challenges over the years. I think she would be a wonderful instructor for your child and would highly recommend her.
Always great lessons! Christyn knows what she's doing, and is always there to help! Very friendly and helpful and she is easy to get along with.
I recently retired and with no prior music training decided to learn how to play the violin. I contacted Sarah Smongeski at Pakachoag Music School asking for lessons. Sarah not only met my need but explained that I would also gain self-confidence, not worry about making mistakes, take chances on new experiences, improve my memory, and have fun learning to play the violin. I discovered that music is a life-long learning experience. I am happy to be a student of Pakachoag Music School where Sarah and her professional staff will teach and support me along the way.
Energetic, very knowledgable, able to change speeds to the level of the student needs to maximize lessons. Wonderful personality. Just seems to have great passion for this.
Penny has been teaching violin to my sons since the last past 2 years. She is an awesome teacher who is patient and really connects well with kids. We started our sons on violin to "try-it-out" not wanting to invest too heavily into some high-priced equipment or high-pressure. Penny has been the perfect choice, she is patient and really connects with the kids to make music easy to learn and enjoyable. Our eight-year old really looks forward to the music lessons and has been enjoying playing violin since the beginning. Penny also holds recitals for her students, and our sons were very excited about performing in public. It is definitely a great exercise. Penny is committed and passionate about what she does and works at the students' pace to make music fun. I really recommend Penny as a music teacher!
I've had many music teachers for different instruments over the years, and Art is by far the best! I'm an adult beginner on violin, so I'm busier and learn less quickly than a kid. A lot of teachers don't have the patience for students like me! Art is incredibly patient, explains things in ways that make sense, and even puts up with my cheap, squeaky violin...I couldn't recommend him more!!
Susannah is an incredible teacher. She gave me technique lessons during my undergrad and helped me diagnose some very important issues! She was always willing to work around my crazy schedule and made time for me around hers. Susannah has been a crucial part to my development as a violinist, and I can't say enough good things about her!
We love our violin teacher with City Strings & Piano! She makes sure that the lessons with our son are really fun and that he's progressing nicely. Having the lessons at our home is great, I wouldn't have it any other way!
Ellen is the consummate violin teacher. My children have been taking lessons with her for 14 years. I highly recommend her violin studio. Ellen is professional and infuses students with a love for music and their instrument. She challenges her students to excel; it is truly amazing what children can achieve with encouragement and excellent teaching.
I love to see my students getting better but I really love to see them enjoy playing their instrument.
