Brian is a student of mine at the Berklee College of Music. He has been taking private lessons with me for 3 years. Brian is a hard working guy that does everything I ask of him. We work on all aspects of playing. I haven't observed Brian as a teacher but I can tell you that the aspects of musicianship we work on would apply to any student. Brian is very good at taking the information I give him and applying it to his playing. He really is a great teacher for himself which is the most important criteria in being a great teacher for others.

About

With 12 years experience as a trombonist and my training at NEC, I consider myself like a musical doctor. I have personally encountered many problems students have and am good at recognizing and "diagnosing" issues students have. Additionally, I know how to "prescribe" the right solutions. Also, I'm a very patient person and encouraging.

About

I am a master's student at New England Conservatory studying classical trumpet performance. I did my undergrad at the University of Southern California. I have been playing trumpet for 13 years. Both my parents are musicians, and I started on piano when I was very young. I have lots of experience and would love to help anyone who is interested to get started on the basics. I would also love to help anyone who is looking to improve their basic technique. I am available to teach classical performance, beginner jazz, pop, and other genres to interested students.

About

I am a multi-instrumentalist, playing trumpet, piano, guitar, and voice. I spent 4 years at Berklee College of Music learning songwriting, trumpet performance, and harmony. I am a certified orthopedic massage therapist and use my knowledge of anatomy and bodywork to inform my lessons to teach music from a more rounded perspective. Musicians need to understand how their bodies work, and the best way to do that is a basic understanding of anatomy.

About

Hello, my name is Kathleen Doran. I am a professional trumpet player in the Boston area. I am currently finishing my degree at Berklee College of Music. I have experience studying and playing both Classical and Jazz genres. I finished high school at Interlochen Arts Academy, and from there participated in The Tanglewood Youth Orchestra. I attended college at Oberlin Conservatory, in Ohio. I am now a scholarship student at Berklee College of Music, and also work at the school part time as a tutor for their core music curriculum. I'm very confident in my skill as a teacher as a communicator. I believe strongly in the developing the physical fundamentals of trumpet playing, so to begin with we will focus a lot on technique. Also, we will lots of listening, and work to find what your musical interests are regarding he trumpet. Discipline comes from fostering passion. We have to keep your passion alive so that you have inspiration to practice! I'd be willing and interested in teaching all students, any age, or learning style.

About

Music is an inherently positive line of work. Either I am performing and reaching people with my personal expression, or I am teaching others what I've learned, so they can share their passion and expression with others. I attended the Eastman School of Music for trumpet performance and the University of Rochester for biology, initially interested in medical school and later interested in dental school. I went back and forth between music and medical/dental school before deciding to focus on music, because I realized I found music to be most fulfilling. Skills such as creativity, focus and discipline that I continually improve throughout music, relate to all other aspects of life including academics, work, nutrition, and fitness. It is a lifelong pursuit of continually challenging myself and opening myself up to new opportunities to grow. I have always known that teaching would be a large part of my life because peer tutoring and teaching trumpet since high school have been so rewarding. I enjoy sharing the gift of music with others and motivating students to give the pursuit of music their best effort. After graduate school, I hope to play in an orchestra and teach at the conservatory and university level.
