Introduction: For nearly twenty years, I have provided excellent audio equipment and appropriate musical atmosphere for events throughout New England. Having played guitar and other instruments since childhood, I have a musical background that provides a positive effect on my ability to DJ. The time I have spent DJing clubs around New England and in California has also given me a lot of experience reading a crowd and responding in kind. I love music. I love to hear good music and welcome the opportunity to find interesting music anywhere I can. DJing keeps me involved in current hits while learning more about the artists time already honors or has forgotten. It's great to see what songs can move almost any crowd onto the dance floor, as well finding songs that fit a particular event.

Pat Duggan was the DJ for our wedding last summer in Vermont. We could not have asked for more in a DJ. Pat was very responsive and made himself available prior to the wedding to go over playlists, logistics and the wedding schedule. On the wedding day, he was able to successfully navigate a pretty challenging wedding site (we got married and had our cocktail hour outside and had the reception in a barn). He was also instrumental in keeping our wedding day schedule on track. Most importantly, Pat made are wedding a rocking party. He had a great sense of playing the right tracks to get people dancing, included the songs we really wanted (and left out the ones we definitely didn't!) knew how to transition for toasts, cake and special dances and overall made everything flow perfectly. Our guests still talk about how great our wedding day was and a large part of that was due to Pat's djing skills. As you can probably tell, I can't recommend Pat more highly for a wedding or special event!

Patrick Duggan did a fantastic job as a DJ for my wedding Aug 2010! He took the time to learn what we liked for music--then never missed a beat. Fabulous and professional. Highly recommended!!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Hourly fees generally range from $100 to $200. Pricing is dependent upon the amount of time booked, equipment required, performance needed, and the type of event.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated college with a BA in English Lit and a minor in Philosophy. My grad school classes have all in been in education, so I'll admit that's not terribly related to dj'ing. I'm self-taught. A few years after college, having spent most of my free time playing guitar or drums in various band situations that never got anywhere, I took it upon myself to develop what I had started to learn as a college radio station disc jockey, and learned how to DJ. I had already taught myself how to play guitar well enough to teach others how to play, so teaching myself how to DJ wasn't a huge leap. Much of what I learn today is about technological developments and how that affects my approach to DJing, and I like to have the most modern and stable equipment available.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I've always liked music and always will. I liked the idea of DJing as a kid, but never had the equipment. When I picked up the guitar, it became another appendage, but DJing was never far from my mind. I've always wanted to be a musician, trying hard during and after college, but had little luck forming successful bands. Being solo looked like a more viable path so I steered toward DJing. A job managing the sales team at Guitar Center allowed me to buy gear affordably and that really helped me get started. I still love to play guitar and have even played classical musical at a wedding ceremony, but DJing has offered me a simple way to be involved with music in a subtle but important way.
