Ian is an excellent tutor. He understands my objectives for the tutoring and also He is very professional. I give him high marks, He's a great tutor.
Thumbtack provides a sophisticated, efficient, and effective framework for tutoring. For us, this was a much better option than the large impersonal prep companies that are not flexible about crafting approaches for different kinds of students. I would recommend Bootstrap very highly and will continue to use them throughout the coming months. A great discovery!
I did the online GMAT tutoring with Steve. I mostly needed help with Quant but a little Verbal as well. I went from 520 to 730 with a lot of hard work. Fantastic tutoring.
My daughter was failing math. After just a few sessions shes not only getting A's but shes learning math at a higher grade level. He is really good at evaluating what it is the student is not understanding and presenting it to the student in a way that they do understand. Great tutor.
I have known Angela for six years and she is kind to her students and very patient. She is very knowledgeable about the piano and her students really enjoy her lessons. She works very hard to make sure that her students continue growing and learn to love the piano. i have enjoyed each lesson with her.
We contacted Michael to help our 15 year old son in Biology. Michael has been extremely helpful. He is very professional, arrives on time, is very friendly and polite, and most importantly is very good at tutoring. My son's Biology grade began going up after the first tutoring session, and continues to rise. My son likes Michael, and feels he would be in danger of failing without his help. Michael is also willing to help Jack with study tips and help getting organized. I would highly recommend Michael to anyone needing tutoring help. He is very smart, patient, professional, and a very nice person.
For the past year, I have worked with Ms. Lisa Kay on multiple subjects: studying for the SAT/ACT, and working on my college application essays. With her variety of tricks and strategies, I have developed skills to do well on these tests. Although I struggled with grasping certain subjects in the beginning, Lisa has been very patient and helped me understand why I got questions wrong versus how many questions I do. Sometimes, when I was frustrated with the practice test I took, she would always reply to my emails and calm me down, keeping me motivated and thinking more positively. Over the course of this year, she has helped build up my self esteem/confidence for test taking, and now I feel much more comfortable with the SAT/ACT. She is very rational and realistic: she always speaks the truth and will make sure that her students improve one way or another. Although her tutoring sessions are only once a week for about an hour each, she can be easily contacted via Skype, email, text, phone call, etc. I know for sure that whenever I have questions, she will always be there to help, and without her, I have no idea where I would be right now in the college process.
Working with Peter has been very helpful. I am a sophomore in high school, and am in an intense honors math class. Peter has helped me significantly with algebra, pre calculus, and geometry. I strongly recommend him to anyone who struggles with math from the middle school to the high school level.
I have received help with multiple writing assignments in school, ACT tutoring, and supplement and college essay help. I do not know what I would do without Lisa! She has helped me go from a B english student to an A student. She has also done a great job working with me on my supplements and college essay. My english teacher and college counselor loved them! For my ACT scores, she helped me get a 33 on my first ACT in the reading section and helped me go from a 24 to a 35 in the english section.
I had Christina for tutoring for writing and math. She is very well qualified, thorough, knowledgable and funny. She is great to work with! I highly recommend her!
Jared is reliable, reasonable and an excellent tutor. I hired him to tutor SAT and ACT students at the last minute and he was willing to dive right in. He helped the students increase the their scores substantially and they enjoyed their lessons with him. If you want a knowledgeable, energetic and friendly tutor, choose Jared.
Olya is truly a miracle teacher! In just 10 lessons with Olya, I was able to improve my GMAT score by 150 points! I highly recommend Olya to anyone who wants to have a chance to study at a top MBA program.
I believe in creating moments of success for the students I work with. I use asset-based approaches in order to develop competency in subject matter and overall academically. Beginning with the capabilities the student already possesses gives them a chance to build on those skills and develop academic confidence in order to achieve success.

Ever since middle school, I knew I wanted to teach math. Now, I am a middle school math teacher and would love to tutor SAT, ACT, middle school or high school math!
My passion is to help kids, and I succeed because I truly enjoy working with them. My approach is consultative and I have a knack for connecting with my students.
There are a number of things I do that stand out. First, I'm not out to make a big profit from this. You get the amount of service you need, and meet the goals that are realistic, at a reasonable price. There is nobody, and I do mean NOBODY! who can teach some learning disabled kids better, faster, and to the best of their abilities than I can. I have recommendations from professional peers, a recent supervisor, and parents that will tell you that, time and time again. I can - when conditions are right - teach people how to tell which hand is which, In ONE TO FOUR MINUTES. These are severely dyslexic people, who have NEVER been able to tell their right hand from their left, through ages 11 to 21. Sound impossible? It's real. I travel to you, unless you'd rather meet somewhere central, like a local library. So much of what you pay goes to car expense. To balance costs, I use longer tutoring sessions of 1 to 2 hours per session, and fewer sessions, when possible. When you can't sit that long, we take short breaks and / or have shorter sessions anyway.
We are very selective with the tutors we hire. We only hire the best. We train our tutors, we use the best technology. We tutor ALL academic subjects and have tutors spread out throughout the country. We do background checks for all of our tutors.
I am a licensed educator in grades 1-6. I have experience teaching in multiple grades and working with struggling learners. My expertise is in math, reading, writing and organization.
I offer math tutoring for high school and junior high students. I do SAT and ACT prep. I also tutor pre-algebra, Algebra I and II, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, statistics, SAT, ACT, and physics. Here's a word from a student: "Thank you! I finished this year with an A in math and I literally can't believe it. This was the best I've done in all of high school. I really appreciate all the help you've given me over the last 3 years."
