Introduction: I am a private teacher of piano and voice in Scituate MA (on the South Shore of Boston) and teach all ages from 4 yrs. through senior adults. I have a Marshall and Wendell baby grand in my teaching studio, and because I'm also an accompanist, I am able to play for my voice students. With piano students I have a relaxed, friendly style of teaching, and my goal is to get my students reading well enough that they can pick up a piece of music and learn it pretty well on their own. I also want them to enjoy music and have it as a life skill. With voice students, I make sure they have a good foundation in posture, breathing, producing a nice tone and diction. I am flexible with the type of literature my students work on -- everything from Classical to pop. I also help students prepare for auditions. I offer both piano and voice students multiple opportunities to perform if they choose to do so, but I never force anyone to perform. I teach 6 (& sometimes 7) days a week, but the hours vary. I love all the different ages and personalities of my many students, and have always found it very rewarding to help others make music a part of their lives. I love seeing students gain confidence and develop as musicians.

First of all, Lenae's enthusiasm and encouragement during lessons made the kids' introduction to piano very enjoyable and accessible for them. She was so kind to our children and so positive about the experience of making music; her rapport with the kids really made for a great start for them. They liked being with Lenae and being at her studio, and her flexibility in letting the little ones play around while the older ones got lessons was always appreciated. Getting a chance to play the Lawson Tower bells and at the different types of recitals Lenae offered were also great experiences for the kids. We also appreciated the way she let the kids follow their interest in which pieces they chose to focus on.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I usually charge between $250-$300 for 2-3 hrs. of background music for parties/events
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We usually speak on the phone or contact each other via email first. Once I have the details of what they're looking for, I offer them what I can provide. Some customers will want all Classical music, others will ask for Broadway tunes, others will request oldies, some want religious music, many would like a mix of many types of music. If they request references, I can provide those. I haven't been successful in getting digital files or videos of my playing that I can upload to my acct., but I'm working on that.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's of Music degree (organ) from Stetson University in DeLand FL and a Master's in Music (organ) from Yale University School of Music/Institute of Sacred Music, but I began piano lessons at age five and studied through high school. I have played for hundreds of concerts and many types of events over the years, and have been an accompanist since about age 10.
