Did great as far as the tenant has told me. My Schedule was very busy when this happened. Already stored him in my phone for future projects. I am a property management company who owns their own properties and manages for others.

He did his job well and efficiently. He arrived early and started to look around the exterior of the condo building. His report was hand written on a pre-printed form, which was different from some of the inspectors who provided a typed extended report with photos. The advantage of working with him was that I obtained the report at the end of the inspection without waiting for a couple of days. It fit my tight timeline well. He definitely provided great services for the price.

They helped me with my one rental property (a house). They were extremely responsive and professional! Labor costs were fairly priced. And best of all, they showed up on time and finished the work when they said they would. I'd definitely hire them again

My condo association has been working with Michael and his team at Boston Condominium Management a bit more than a year. They are a huge improvement over the last management company we had. They are all extremely professional, responsive and helpful. They have great systems in place that let the do all the admin stuff easily and give anyone in the condo association quick access to as much of the detail as they want. Everyone at BCM is a pleasure to deal with and I would certainly recommend them to any condo association (especially a small one like us - but I'm sure they do just as well with the bigger ones). --- A happy Boston Condo Management customer

If I could give Pietro and his company 6 stars- I would do so without hesitation! The man is amazing- got me out of a tough spot with a dishonest renovation contractor, and was able to fill my vacancy with top notch renters when another realtor had let it sit vacant for months. He is hard working, available, responsive, and a total breath of fresh air in the real estate/ property management field. As I have told him- I wish you could be cloned and your clones fill all businesses. :) with the same work ethic and honesty.

I am reviewing as a rental property owner. I started a relationship with Nexus Property Management with 1 rental property and I am currently at 9 units and climbing. I am an out of state owner and there is no way I could feel comfortable about the care of my rental properties if it weren't for all of the professional people at Nexus Property Management. They cover everything: investment property purchases, management, leasing, and maintenance. And almost all correspondence, bills, money contributions, and maintenance requests can be made through their online Nexus Portal. Having Nexus property Management managing my properties takes all the worries out of rental property ownership. And the time I save allows me to focus on other investment opportunities and that, helps me buy more investment rental property!

It was a pleasure dealing with this company and more importantly the landscaping gentleman named Atiba that showed up when he said he would and provided us a cost analysis of what needed to be done and how long it would take. No surprises!! I would hire this guy again as he is very dependable, honest and gets the job done! Thankyou-

Skyline Realty has been a wonderful partner to me as I relocated to Europe for work. I own a few condos in the Boston area and Skyline did a wonderful job locating tenants for me as well as preparing the units for new occupants by painting, patching and cleaning the units before the new tenants moved in! Thank you Skyline for all your help! Keep up the amazing work!

Matt Cicciari has been an extraordinary resource in helping us with the various challenges in maintaining our 86 year old home. Our recent challenge was finding a professional chimney repair company to replace the chimney liners in our fire place. Unfortunately a opossum had made a nest in the chimney and had damaged the liners for both the fireplace and heater. Matt’s extensive industry knowledge and detailed understanding of construction requirements enabled us to find and engage a repair company in a timely manner. Our chimney was professionally repaired at a reasonable price thanks to Matt. We highly recommend CCRE Construction for projects both large and small. When we moved into our 80 year old house in 2012, Matt recognized the limitations and vulnerability of the smoke alarms. Because of his expertise, he repositioned the alarms and replaced them with the most up to date battery operated units. We also had a front door that had an annoying squeak every time it opened or closed. We routinely sprayed the hinges with silicone lubricant that only lasted a short time. Matt quickly diagnosed the problem and provided the solution. He removed the door, thoroughly cleaned the hinges and lubricated them white lithium grease. Four years later the door still quietly opens and closes. Because of their honesty, professionalism and expertise we highly recommend CCRE Construction for all home maintenance and improvement projects Tim Bard

Ted and Lauren at ECMD have been managing property for us for almost 3 years. It has been a pleasure working with them as they combine an institutional background with a personal touch in everything they do. It is rare to find a property manager with as much integrity as ECMD. They are forthright, honest and extremely hard working. Ted has done a great job leasing units at our building and pushing rents to new levels, while Lauren is a wiz when it comes to accounting, back office operations and logistics. The books every month are tight and every cent can be tracked. For a property 10-75 units, ECMD offers the best value proposition in the market and maybe even more importantly, they are great people. We would highly recommend ECMD for both residential and commercial property management in the Boston area.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a property management company do?

Property management companies manage the rental of residential homes, apartments, condos, commercial spaces and retail spaces. Property managers can oversee just a single unit or many properties, whether those sites are inhabited full-time or are vacation rentals. A property management company helps a property owner or landlord find tenants; collects rent; takes care of accounting, property maintenance and repairs; handles on-site management; and manages vacation rental check-in and checkout tasks. Although many property owners or landlords successfully manage their own rental real estate, a property management company can help you handle tenant issues and maintenance problems, especially if you are not located in the same city or state. Most property management companies deal with tenants directly, and their tasks include:

  • Marketing the rental property
  • Collecting rent
  • Handling repair problems
  • Responding to tenant complaints
  • Evicting tenants

A property management company may be a good choice for property owners who have several investment properties, live far away from the rental property, or don’t have time for hands-on management.

Why is property management important?

A property management company can be a landlord’s greatest asset. As a neutral third party, the property manager handles the day-to-day operations of a real estate investment, from a single vacation home to a large apartment building or several rental properties. A property management company can be especially helpful to landlords who own several units and can’t manage each of them individually, or those who live too far from their investment properties to meet with renters and oversee maintenance. Property management is particularly important if your rentals are part of an affordable housing program. To receive financial assistance from the government, the landlord must comply with a complicated set of rules; property management companies should have both experience and expertise in complying with the rules specific to each housing program.

Do property managers need to be licensed?

The licensing requirements for property managers vary from state to state, but many states require property managers to have a real estate broker’s license and in some cases be a legal resident of a state. Property management may not be specified in a state real estate statute, but according to the Institute of Real Estate Management their activities may include advertising the availability of a rental property, discussing a property management agreement with an owner, negotiating leases, showing a rental property and collecting rents.
