Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I'm an academic philosopher affiliated with MIT as well as an editor. I think what sets me apart is that, as a philosopher, I offer expert developmental editing as well as line editing. If there are "holes" in your logic or points that need clarification, I will identify them and collaborate with you in revising the passages that need additional work. I love the craft of writing. I enjoy the creative process of composing sentences that express a writer's ideas clearly and elegantly. While my specialty is academic work, I'm also experienced in editing fiction, memoir, articles for the Huffington Post, application essays, and training manuals. If you're looking for someone uniquely qualified to help you write the manuscript you're envisioning, let's talk.

Her editing was very meticulous. My paper has 18 pages, but she was done around 10 days. She did correcting a vague sentence with taking it into whole context. She is perfect editer with philosophical analysis.

Sara was great! She took a thoughtful approach to both my manuscript and my needs as a client. She offered quick fixes for minor grammatical mistakes as well as suggestions for how the overall structure could be improved. And she managed to do it without bruising my pitiful writer ego.

Sara edited a philosophy paper for me that was overlong for a journal and shortened it within a week. I thought she did an excellent job and that her suggestions were right on target. She spotted unecessary material immediately. I was very busy with other work so her help has been invaluable. She did go above and beyond, hunting down some citations I has forgotten too include, I would recommend her to anyone

I am a graduate student. I started working with Sara as I was helping my best friend look for "the best editor" for her daughter's writing. As a loyal friend, I made a special trip to Boston to meet Sara whom I learnt from her webpage. It was worthy taking the trip! Sara convinced me of her profession and turn-around speed with excellent quality of work. As a result, I became her customer too!

Sara helped me edit my fiction book manuscript over the period of 2.5-3 months. We communicated via email on a weekly basis (due to our geographical distance) but we also met in person a few times throughout the project duration. From the start I could tell that Sara was very detail-oriented and always made sure to point out anything from grammatical errors or sentence re-structuring to paragraphs that need further development. She was also cooperative and her comments are always thought out and challenged my thought process!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge $40 an hour and $35 an hour for full-time students. For clients who request an estimate, I edit three to five pages to determine how long it will take me.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I ask new customers what level of editing they're looking for and whether there's anything specific that they'd like me to do. Some people are very specific about what they're looking for: they want me to maintain their voice or they don't want me to; they want me to make their writing less wordy; they want me to pay special attention to certain passages or transitions. I customize my edits in accordance with their requirements.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Toronto and have published a book, Wittgenstein's Account of Truth, and several scholarly and popular articles. My writing skills enable me to improve the style of the manuscripts I edit. I've also taken proofreading and copyediting courses at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education.
