Communication was great! Josh was very responsive from beginning to end. We hired them to help with bed bug treatment. It was the first treatment so we will need to wait for a month to see if it is effective.

I had a roommate who somehow got bed bugs in his bedroom. I contacted Thumbtack and got a few responses. Two services intrigued me. I went with Andy from One Way, his cost was less than the other company and cost was a concern for me. Andy lived nearby and made it easy to set up and keep our two appointments. He communicated well what he planned on doing when he arrived, educated me about the nasty bed bugs and did the job professionally. I highly recommend Andy from ONE WAY!

Matthew treated my rental apartment for bed bugs a few months ago and I haven’t had any complaints about bugs from the new tenants who moved in after treatment since. He was very responsive to all forms of communication from calls, texts and emails. Gave a reasonable price that came with a 1 year warranty. He completed the 1st and follow up treatments quickly and was able to perform all instructed tasks without me having to be at the apartment myself. Would definitely recommend him and would use him again in the future if I have any other pest problems.

I am very impressed with A&D. We contacted the company for a bed bug situation and Mike got back to us immediately. He came out the next day and gave a very thorough inspection. The techs came out a couple of days later. They were very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. They will be back for 2 more treatments. I have had many quesstions and Mike has responded quickly each time. I highly recommend A & D.

After detecting some bug activity in my basement, I contacted 2 major companies that told me that I have post powder beetles and it needed to be treated soon. After hearing their huge estimates, I decided to read some of their reviews, that scared me even more than the post powder beetles. Such horrible reviews that I would pay not to have them in my house. So I decided to keep up my research until I found I.T.S. Pest & Wild Life Control. They not only have the best price, but also they are very professional with strong work ethics. Yes, I finally found "the guy", that can take care of the bugs, spiders and ants when spring comes, for a great price with work guaranty. Thanks I.T.S. Pest & Wild Life Control!

Fred came to our house to meet a friend of ours since we were on vacation and did a great job. Then about two months later after seeing 4 bugs, he came and did another spray! We had a really bad infestation the first time around, so I was amazed it took 2 months to see any centipedes, and then he was so nice about coming back - I highly recommend him!

I had a mice problem in my 2 family home, in which I tried to resolve myself for a couple of months but was unsuccessful. I reached out to Ryan who was very responsive, and set-up an appointment for him to come out and take a look at what is going on. He was very punctual, and after arriving he explained everything to me and what the best plan would be to get rid of the mice. He back 2 weeks later to make sure the situation was under control and sure enough, it was! His prices are extremely reasonable and they come with a warranty, which you hope you don't ever have to use but its great to have just in case. 2 months post treatment, and I have no had any sightings of any kind and I am now mouse free! Ryan was such a pleasure to work with, that after realizing that I had a boxelder bug issue on the outdoors of my home, I asked him to come and take a look at it. He again, was great and explaining everything to me, and what he needed to do to get rid of this issue. I'm very happy with the results and I cant say enough for Ryan's knowledge and professionalism. I highly recommend Safer Nature Pest Control!

Guy with Squared Away Pest was a great find! I live in a wooded area and I had them spray my property for mosquito and ticks a few years ago and it worked wonders. I have had them back every year since. I have also used them for interior ants and "bugs". I would highly recommend them!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you get bed bugs and how do you get rid of them?

The increase in bed bug infestations in the U.S. is a result of increased travel, lack of knowledge about preventing infestations, increased resistance of bed bugs to pesticides, and ineffective pest control practices, explains the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s easy to mistake bed bugs for carpet beetles or similar-looking bugs, so infestations are often not noticed when they first occur. Prevention tips include keeping areas free of clutter, regularly washing sheets and mattress covers in hot water (and don’t forget to wash the laundry bag, too), and vacuuming regularly and safely disposing of the sealed vacuum bag. Not everyone has reactions to bed bug bites, which also may be mistaken for the bites of other pests such as mosquitoes, so timely bed bug extermination depends on identification of bed bug activity. If you notice physical signs of an infestation, contact a bed bug extermination professional as soon as possible to learn about chemical and non-chemical (such as heat) treatment options. An integrated pest management plan may incorporate one or more methods.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to kill bed bugs?

The cost of bed bug extermination depends primarily on how widespread the pest infestation is and how many rooms need to be treated. Other factors that can affect bed bug extermination costs are the amount of clutter in the location, additional furniture that needs to be treated, and construction of the home. Pest management professionals often have rates for room treatments, which can vary based on these factors. As an example, a pest management company treating a 10-by-15-foot room with light infestation might charge clients about $250, while the same size room with a heavy infestation and large amounts of clutter might cost the clients $300-$400. Clutter and heavier bed bug populations mean more product and longer labor time for the workers. Rates will vary from company to company, and from region to region, but the national average bed bug extermination cost is $320-$400. Bed bug heat treatments are an alternative way to exterminate these pests. Heat treatments are typically charged per square foot and tend to cost more than chemical or non-chemical spray solutions. Although effective, they are not usually recommended for occupied spaces, as the extreme temperatures can damage televisions, window dressings and other home furnishings.

How much does it cost for a pest control service?

Whether you need to get rid of bugs or rodents, pest removal professionals can be lifesaving when you have an infestation. Pest control prices will vary based on what type of pest is being removed. The national pest control price range is $80-$130, although prices can be much higher for tasks like wildlife removal (raccoons, bobcats, etc.), which might start at $250 and exceed $500, depending on the animal and the trapping measures required.

The cost of eliminating a termite colony ranges on average from $240 to $400, but these costs can increase greatly if the whole house is infested. The average cost to kill cockroaches is between $80 and $130, while bedbug extermination ranges from $320 to $400 on average. The main factors that will affect your pest control price are the type of pest, the extent of the infestation, the accessibility of the infested areas, and the type of treatment required.
